Saw this on FECC:

The Colonel and the King: Tom Parker, Elvis Presley, and the Partnership that Rocked the World

From the award-winning biographer of Elvis Presley, The Colonel and the King is a groundbreaking dual portrait of the relationship between the iconic artist and his legendary manager, Colonel Tom Parker, drawing on a wealth of Parker's never-before-seen correspondence to reveal that this oft-reviled figure was in fact a confidant, friend, and architect of his client's success.

In early 1955, Colonel Tom Parker—the manager of the number-one country musician of the day—heard that an unknown teenager from Memphis had just drawn a crowd of more than 800 people to a Texas schoolhouse, and headed south to investigate. Within days, Parker was sending out telegrams and letters to promoters and booking agents: “We have a new boy that is absolutely going to be one of the biggest things in the business in a very short time. His name is ELVIS PRESLEY.” Later that year, after signing with RCA, the young man sent a telegram of his own: “Dear Colonel, Words can never tell you how my folks and I appreciate what you did for me.... I love you like a father.”

The close personal bond between Elvis and the Colonel proved impossible for outside observers to understand—not during their lifetimes, and not in the decades since. It was a long-standing, deeply committed relationship, founded on mutual admiration and support. As the Colonel wrote to Elvis in July 1973, several years before the star’s tragic death: “Without a doubt you are by far the greatest artist I have ever known, and can be even greater if you just believe in yourself half as much as I believe in you.” From the outset, the Colonel defended Elvis fiercely and indefatigably against RCA executives, Elvis’ own booking agents, and movie moguls. But in their final years together, the story grew darker, and the relationship strained, as the Colonel found himself unable to protect Elvis from himself—or to control growing problems of his own.

Featuring troves of never-before-seen correspondence from the Colonel’s own archives, revelatory both for their insights and—particularly with respect to Elvis—their emotional depth, The Colonel and the King provides a unique perspective on not one but two American originals. A tale of the birth of the modern-day superstar (an invention almost entirely of Parker’s making) by the most acclaimed music writer of his generation, it presents these two misunderstood icons as they’ve never been seen before: with all of their brilliance, humor, and flaws on full display.

Rare, candid footage of Elvis Presley unearthed from FOX 5 archives

Part of this footage was used in "This is Elvis" but what they've found obviously is longer.

Totally forgot to post this here but then again I really don't know what this is about.... Roll Eyes

Sunset Boulevard, a 5CD box set and 2LP vinyl edition of Elvis Presley’s 1970s recordings in Los Angeles, is to be released by RCA/Legacy in early August. Over half of the 89 tracks on the 5CD edition are previously unreleased.

The first CD is of 17 songs Presley recorded for 1973’s album Elvis (aka The Fool Album) and 1975’s Today. The second CD’s 17 tracks are outtakes from those sessions. Discs three to five consist of two rehearsals in Los Angeles for Presley’s Las Vegas residency. The 2LP edition comprises 24 songs taken from the first two CDs (studio masters on LP 1 and outtakes on LP 2).

The period saw Presley engage with contemporary songwriters. He tackled songs by Kris Kristofferson (‘For The Good Times’) and Paul Williams (‘Where Do I Go From Here’) for sessions on 1973’s Elvis (aka The Fool Album), while 1975’s album Today featured covers of Don McLean’s ‘And I Love You So’ and Billy Swan’s ‘I Can Help’.

The songs of the first disc were recorded at RCA’s Studio C in Hollywood. This audio was remastered by producer Matt Ross-Spang, who first worked with Presley’s estate on 2016’s Way Down In The Jungle Room, a compilation of sessions from Presley’s ‘Jungle Room’ home studio at Graceland recorded in 1976.

The three CDs of rehearsals in Los Angeles are by Presley with his TCB band. They date from 24 July 1970 and 16 August 1974. These rehearsals are significant for featuring two songs which Presley never recorded in the studio: Johnny Mathis’ 1957 hit ‘The Twelfth Of Never’ and ‘Softly As I Leave You’, a 1962 single by Matt Monro.

With the two LA rehearsals spread across three CDs, CD4 consists of the second half of the 1970 performance and the first half of 1974’s.

Sunset Boulevard includes rare archive photographs, sleeve notes by early rock & roll specialist writer Colin Escott and an introduction by Jerry Schilling, the manager of the Beach Boys and Jerry Lee Lewis who was part of Presley’s “Memphis Mafia” inner circle.

Sunset Boulevard will be released on 1 August 2025, via RCA/Legacy Recordings.

For completist purposes it makes sense as they had sets on the Stax sesssions and Jungle Room plus the albums on his 19691971  period so this was all that was missing

Rocker, has there been any update on whether FECC is coming back?  I don't know if you're a member over at the Steve Hoffman forum, but I was lurking over at the thread on that board about it, but it "ended" at 21 pages (at that point, it gives an error).  So I'm guessing that thread got pulled by the mods on that board?  I've been debating whether or not to make an account over there, assuming FECC doesn't return.
