Well here's a Beatles-interview. At 4 mins. Paul mentions "Beach Boys" twice as his favorite american group.

Best line, in answering the charge that Day Tripper is about prostitutes and Norwegian Wood is about a lesbian, Paul saying "We were just trying to write songs about prostitutes and lesbians, that's all."

Hmm, I think this is decent evidence of John's views on the group. Paul says it over John's listing over several U.S bands, obviously trying to get the damn word in there. John notices, looks at Paul, but does not affirm it by saying it. Very interesting.

I've really never heard a live version of this song that I've liked. The closest has been the Hawaii performance and simply because Brian was there and it feels unique amongst all other performances of it.

THe accordians make the song --  why is there not a accordian player within the BW band?

Maybe you could clear up John's comment about Eleanor Rigby for me. When asked what the inspiration was, John answered by saying "two queers." I doubt John had any input in writing the song so I think I must have missed a joke here.

I took it to be a follow-up joke on the earlier thing I said was the funniest line. I think John was just trying to be funny, not an actual reference to anything specific. Like "not only will I not clear up your misunderstanding from earlier, but I'm going to add to it."

Beach Boys - Live in Paris, December 1970.
I had to split it into 2 parts because Youtube doesn't accept videoclips longer than 10 minutes. Roll Eyes

Did you ever see the interview that followed "Graduation Day"?

The guys were on The Tonight Show, and Joan Rivers was guest hosting. I don't remember the exact question, but Brian starts talking about recently meeting and talking with Phil Spector about some project!

I always wondered if he really did...

For the record, does Spector like the Beach Boys? He probably respects Brian, but does he approve of their 60's prime? I think he should, since so much of it is an homage to the Wall of Sound.
