Man i love 1950s doowop, the 1950s were such a great era for Brian to learn about music. Thumbs Up

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Not even close!

As it is, every ballad ever written owes it's soul to some old DooWop tune, so it's not even a point worth trying to make.

Also, Brian had nothing to do with the song in question.

I just ment overall that Brian had great music growing up to formulate his ideas, i know he had no role in making SIP.

The scary thing is: Brian must've been the most lucid person on that video set judging by the look on his face!!!!

I wish the sheer horror of that set would have made the old Brian of the glory years return and retake control of the group from Mike.

Or maybe he was just jealous of all the girls fawning over Mike and went home to polish up an official Smart Girls release  Razz

Americathon - It's A Beautiful Day

I kinda like that song. Note that John Ritter would also star in Problem Child. I read that he was quite a Beach Boys fan. I remember seeing the movie "It" and my sister would say that Ritter looks like Carl. RIP John and Carl

I never realised it until now, but John Ritter actually did look quite a bit like the younger pre-beard Carl of the mid 1960's. Wow.  Grin

Brian in a Johnny Cash video at around 2:25, which is funny because Brian isn't the biggest Cash fan.

Car-crash level pro-shot set from Budokan, 1991. In eight, gutwrenching parts.

I remember seeing this a couple years back and giving a "whoa!"-like response. Pretty cool, albeit a bit sad that Brian isn't into 'im. Ah well, different strokes and all that.

Kind of sad that my brain associates this song with fucking trucks now. I've no issues with folks trying to make money from their music, but if you've any say in the matter, include something in those contracts like, "Please refrain from using this fucking song 295,284,274,961,382 times in your Gosh Darn commercial, please."

Yes, I realize Johnny boi was dead at the time, but someone in charge should've prevented such a thing if it's even possible.

Short and really not essential but Mick Jagger mentioning the 1984 Olympics gig with the Beach Boys about 8:09.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

It's interesting to see everybody gathered together, except Al. If he were an further away from them he'd be in the audience. I also noticed that right before they did Kokomo, Al walks over to Mike, and Mike takes a few steps back.

Al just has to be that much closer to the camera due to his height.
