Happy New Year to you all! :-)
Just listened to Auld Lang Syne by the Jingle Cats .
RR1, how does your kitty like his new basket?

Hello. Doing a little better after family craziness (still going on but am adjusting).
Reflected by music playing in my mental jukebox. On replay for a couple of weeks was the not very calming song, "7 and 7 is" by Love.
Thank goodness my "jukebox" is now playing songs such as the vocal track of "Little Bird." Much better!
and btw I enjoyed your take on William Blake on another board.

That song is not what I usually listen to. It's not a bad song but that type of music raises my stress levels if it plays over and over in my head.
Posted here because JK was hoping that all was okay. After a big bump for a few days everything's okay in my corner.
And hoping all is well with you and kitty, and that the weather in your neck of the woods isn't as crazy as it is in much of the world nowadays.

Ooh! I missed this, E. Thank you! You're the only person to comment on it.
Initially I posted it there in all its brazen glory but then decided to link it instead, as being less off-putting to others who were contemplating posting some poetry of their own. It's still the last post in that topic!

I love these conversations about ostensibly minor musical details. They are what
make
this forum. They may be over my head at times but I can live with that.

Both Al Vescovo and Brian Wilson have said it was Al Vescovo who played it, and listening to the part with a critical ear, it's basic but so well played that it wouldn't sound as perfect coming from an amateur steel guitarist. People who play steel guitar will notice the detail such as the intonation and the touch/technique. The only part that doesn't fit is that no session sheet has shown up with Vescovo's name on it. But when you have the producer and the musician himself both saying the same thing, unless other info surfaces, that's pretty definitive for now.

Hello - Thank you for approving my account. I'm 32 so I unfortunately missed a lot of the BB in their primes.
Until a few weeks ago, I was only really familiar with a few songs of theirs (Surfin' USA, I Get Around, Fun Fun Fun, Kokomo). I'm not quite sure what the impetus was, but earlier this year, I spent some time on Wikipedia hopping from article to article, and started listening/buying a lot of the material from the mid-60s. It's been about six weeks I want to say, and I haven't stopped listening. Everything in the span from Today! to Sunflower is terrific sounding (and I want to say I've probably logged at least 50 playthroughs of Pet Sounds/Smile Sessions).
I do want to try and listen to some of the later stuff more (I bought Love You and downloaded a reconstruction of Adult/Child), though a lot of my favorite stuff is the releases/recordings from when Brian was in his vocal prime and had control of production/creative direction on albums. Absolutely beautiful combination, especially with the harmonies being as incredible as they were.
In terms of new material, it seems I've chosen a great time to become a fan. Just a few weeks ago in December the Sessions material came out for 2018, and it seems there has been a constant stream of stuff being unearthed from the archives for a few years now.
I'm most likely going to lurk more at first, I have a lot of reading to do (and it seems there are a lot of insiders here, so I'm sure to pick up a lot), but I plan to post some once I'm acclimated.
Thanks again to the admin.

Nah, my birthday falls on Ash Wednesday. Fasting is the order of the day.
Edit: Actually I am now old enough that I don't have to follow the "rules" of fasting if I don't want to. I'm just not supposed to eat meat. Yeah, in New Orleans of all places, I have to make the "sacrifice" of eating fish instead of meat. Laughable!!
(The whole "fasting" thing in the Western church is a great big "nothing burger" compared to what the Orthodox have to do - they have to essentially go vegan for a long period of time.)
Anyway, since my birthday almost always falls within the Lenten season my family doesn't give me a birthday party. When I was working my co-workers would sometimes bring a cake so that was the most celebration that would take place.

Yes I'm on that Board and posted . Can't remember my username but my avatar is the Intravenous de Milo album cover by Spinal Tap.
My entry was the Grateful Prunes, but realized that a better entry would have been the Electric Prunes Orchestra.
I'll check back to it to see what was posted today.

I'll play:
Kaleidoscope (U.K. plus U.S.)
Gov't Beatles ft. Steve Miller Mule
Plastic Bono Band ft. Yoko
Apples & Flowers ft. Hearts In Stereo
NRBMac ft. Fleetwood Quintet
American Honeys ft. The United Stated Of America's Spring
Fairport Beach ft. Boys' Convention
New Roxy Ferry ft. Christy Bryan Minstrel Music
30 Seconds To Teddy Bears ft. Mars Cadbury
Pink Freshmen ft. Four Floyd
The Jam ft. Marmalade
The Ronettes ft. The Tenacious Phil & D Spector
Some very cool ones there, RR.
I see The Butthole Surfers are a popular choice for that Hoffman thread and I still have to fathom out why.
