Has anybody heard of this story before?
Dennis was considered as the Silver Surfer for a proposed movie in the early 70s.

I do remember this. I think I read about it in the New York Daily News in the early seventies. I don't recall it ever being mentioned anywhere else.

As much as I wish such a thing existed, everything about it just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I'm thinking of the Spiderman and Captain America films that were made in the 70s and they were pretty god awful.

This would have been the greatest piece of crap ever made, and I would hold it in great reverence. If only! If only!

Saw it yesterday on Facebook and had never heard of it myself. It would have been inspired casting, that's for sure. Dennis had the aura, the body and knew how to move on a surfboard. Plus, he already had some acting experience. I don't mean to say it would have been a good film, but probably a remarkable piece of pop culture.

Let's stay with the fan-casting for a moment. If Dennis had portrayed the Silver Surfer, which BBs-related person would you have picked for Galactus?  Grin

Easy-- Brian.

The Beach Boys are just Brian's f*cking messengers, right? And the Surfer is just Galactus' herald, right?

Man, this movie casts itself.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Apologies for dredging up an old thread, but I found this 1972 Cashbox article online. I never knew Dennis had written music about the Silver Surfer! Was anybody at this Carnegie Hall show in 1972? Sounds truly wild.
