Wow- Thanks, Melinda, and welcome to the board! I hope you'll stick around and fill in some more blanks about your family. I knew your basic story from the books, of course, but we'd all like to know as much more as you're willing to share. Guess your mom is the "pretty cheerleader" from the song "Brian's Back"?
Thank you Joe
I've a quick story about that. I was visiting my father when he was writing "Brian's Back". He wanted me to hear a song he was working on. He took out his guitar and started singing. He had to stop when he got to the part about a pretty cheerleader. He was too choked up because he was singing to me about my mom! It was a sweet and very poignant moment.
There's a good account of Mike's "eviction" in the Timothy White book.
Do you suppose that apartment you mentioned was the inspiration for the lyric in "Girl From NYC": "small apartment down on the beach"...(just kidding...but you never know).
Good to see you on this board, Melinda.
Craig
Hi Craig. I remember reading that book several years ago and was very impressed with the research that was done. I don't remember however, if he wrote about ALL of my dad's belongings being thrown out of his second story bedroom window out to the front lawn?
Melinda -
I think it's great that people like you join the board every now and then. I thought I knew quite a lot of BB history but turns out I was wrong! There are some fantastic people here who really know their stuff. I am humbled...
I don't know if you can answer this but I thought I'd ask: do you know if Mike is ever going to release his own account of things? I'm sure there are many who would be very interested to read it?
Thanks Lola. A few years ago, I used to read/post frequently. It's been a while. I know that I gather more info about BB history reading fan posts than I could ever hope to impart! Don't know of any plans that my dad has regarding the release of his story. At this point, he's really a busy guy. Asside from his hectic touring/ travel schedule and his recordng projects, he's very much a hands-on dad to the latest brood. It may have taken him several tries, but he seems to have finally gotten the hang of it!
