Noel Harrison has died

Just learned from an unexpected source (the Facebook page of singer Mary Lou Lord, who heard it from his son) that Noel Harrison (whose dad was Sir Rex) died yesterday, in his eighties. He's best known for the records he made in the Sixties - he toured with the BBs for a spell in '66 - and for co-starring with Stefanie Powers in The Girl From UNCLE, but his career stretched far beyond those achievements and into many unusual areas. RIP.

First time I ever heard of Leonard Cohen was his reading of "Suzanne."  RIP....

Another BBs connection - or Brian connection, anyway - is that "Hold Back Time" from OCA was the title track of one of Harrison's self-released CDs in 2003 - Van Dyke (who was a good friend of his from their days as Warner Bros labelmates) played piano on it.

This is the UK Guardian article, pretty much the only obit that mentioned NH's mid'90s stint as a writer of the softcore Emmanuelle and Justine cable movies. He's not the only British Invader to venture into the adult field. In 2011, Ian Whitcomb of "You Turn Me On" fame played small roles - clothed - in several hardcore flicks.
