Why not release something like 'My Solution' or 'River Deep, Mountain High' as a true oddity? Hell even I could buy the box then.

Without going into the specifics on why AGD or anyone else (AGD is not the only one) was banned, I do want to remind you all of the recent additions to the "Rules and Guidelines - read this before posting" topic

specifically:
Quote
9) Forum moderation policy (at moderator's discretion, also includes requests for "Private Messages" with regards to bootleg trading)

First offense - Banned for 7 days (a week)
Second offense - Banned for 30 days (a month)
Third offense - Permanent ban and account deletion (forever)

In extreme cases, a first or second offense may be grounds for a permanent ban...again, at the discretion of the mod involved.

Many bans of recent times are strongly related to personal and direct harsh/insulting comments towards another member. We don't mind if you have a strong opinion on a particular issue or openly criticize someone else's opinion. After all that's where this board is known for. All is good as long as you reply with respect towards the other poster('s opinion)... even if the other the other manages to make your blood boil so to speak.

Has Andrew Hickey also been banned perchance? I`m not saying he should have been but I did wonder why the board had been quieter over the past couple of days.

Jeff speaks the truth. Recent attempt by Kokomaoists to deny the band's legacy as a truly adventurous and groundbreaking group are deeply embarrassing.
The bands legacy is not just Pet Sounds and Smile, either. I'll ask you, how many audience members would have gone to see the C50 shows without the 1962-1965 material? What gets the greatest applause? I totally understand the need for the  post 1965 material to get it's due, but denying everything else that came before is just rewriting history. The same thing that many accuse Mike of doing. I think a balanced view of their whole career is more in order. They were/are a pretty diverse band.

Let's give Quzi the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to trash it as soon as he has heard the track. Grin Which should be any minute now. Smokin

Some retailers in Holland have it listed for 25 July. That's Thursday. I'll keep my eye on them and see if it's legit.

Well, that was clearly an error, since they changed it to 23 August now Grin (including bol.com, for any Dutchies out there)

That's correct. 1 week. By the way, we do understand the sentiments which caused this to happen (and we've seen the apologies he made as well), but we can't make exceptions to the rules just because of that.

You spelled "warrant" incorrectly -- if not banned you still might be whipped by Van Dyke with a wet noodle for such an infraction.

Hey Little Tomboy is creepy. Banging women by the pool is fun and conjures up warm summer thoughts a Beach Boys song should.

Is 16 "woots" a bannable offensive?

Being a liberal user of woots myself I am just taking precautionary measures.

You mean "w00ts"? Wink

Damn this is getting way off-topic..

Does anybody know if the entirety of the "Goin' To The Beach" track (vocals, backing track) on MiC was recorded back in 1979 or if some elements are new recordings to make it something they could release?

The drums on it sound new and maybe some other newer overdubs?
Technically, it sounds great but the song is pretty much one chorus over and over.

Yes I was thinking this morning... The guitar fills reminded me of Do It Again (2012) so I wouldn't be surprised if the guitar work was Scott from the session that took place at Ocean Way a month back or so.

I'm so glad Mike opted for this track instead of the original version of Big Sur. Thanks, Mike!

if I ever read some sarcasm...  Grin

Unfortunately, since the mid 70s (early?), Mike's lost track of what the strengths of BB music (including his own) are.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I'm also curious. Seems to me that a lot of personal things get said around here by a lot of people. Andrew H. is one of the more passionate pro-Brian folks, so it's hard not to draw conclusions that dissent from a certain party line is being squelched.

I think the seven-day ban happened because Andrew H. got into it with rubbersoul 13 about the M&B vs. BW band thread. He apologized afterwards, so I didn't see this ban coming.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591
