The first time I've ever seen a complete set of CHEETAH magazines for sale! ( In fact, the first time I've seen most any of them) :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cheetah-Magazine-Tom-Wolfe-Beatles-Peter-Max-Beach-Boys-Kennedy-Lennon-1960s-Vtg-/141077835265

Not cheap, but then, when will they appear again?

and then, there's this sad seller, who is a bit out of touch with his identities( or Dennis' Identity):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dennis-Wilson-of-the-Beach-Boys-Playing-the-Guitar-/190917529018
Wow. That fold-out out of Mama Cass, ive seen that before, maybe first exposure to porn...  Grin Did this publication have any connection to the Cheetah Club?

You know, I still have an original Mr. D's Machine album that I bought when I was a kid in the 60's. I was a real train enthusiast back then. A few years later, I heard "Caroline No" for the first time and said, "Hey, that's from the "Mr. D's Machine" diesel engine sound effects album!!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Did you by any chance have the Capitol album "Sparky And The Talking Train"?

The Sonovox effect worked better on Sparky's talking piano, I think... Grin

Didn't have that, but one of the first albums my Mom bought me as a kid was "Alvin & The Chipmonks Sing The Beatles Hits".  I guess my Mom was a little "protective" of me back in '64 and didn't think I was ready for the real deal. I took it over to my cousin's house to play (they had all the latest Beatle albums) and they laughed and made fun of me. So a couple years later I asked for a real Beatle album for Christmas - the one with Day Tripper on it. She gave me "Yesterday & Today" with the butcher cover!  What a Mom!

I didn't even know what a "Butcher Cover" was until a few years after I got it. I remember back in the early 70's a record store owner told me it would be worth some big money some day. Told me he knew a guy who could peel it for me for 20 bucks and it would be in pristine condition. Another Beatles collector told me, "No, don't peel it! Leave the paste-over intact!." To this day, some people say to peel it; some say don't. But I think more people these days say that if you have one, leave it alone.

Great story, Mikie! Wow. Now that is what I call a "Christmas Miracle"!  Grin

As far as peeling the cover, I'd have to say don't peel it. Any collector knows what's under there, and what it's worth, honestly I think as time goes on if it hasn't already happened by now (haven't kept up...), the unpeeled covers will be worth as much if not more because of the overall condition of the cover itself. And unlike the 70's, you're dealing with paper and cardboard which is now a few years shy of 50 years old, and which has dried and aged considerably.

Anyone holding onto an "unpeeled" Butcher, don't touch it.

I also think the whole market and game changed when the estate of the Capitol exec uncovered that stash of truly mint, shrinkwrapped Butcher covers which he had stored since they were new. There was next to nothing like that previously, and having a Butcher which had been even mangled or ripped in the peeling stage was therefore more "rare". But when a stash is uncovered of pristine albums, the appeal and the demand for the damaged covers may have dipped just a bit.

But it is amazing how much people apparently pay for original Capitol Beatles vinyl, I sold quite a few back in the early 90's that could have paid some bills today.  Smiley

I know someone who bought a Butcher cover (non paste over) for a few quid a couple of years ago.  He sold it on ebay last year for a thousand! Cheesy nice work fella.

Alan Livingston wasn't it? All 1st state unopened gems.

And his horde had several stereo copies which I believe are harder to find.

Something smells fishy about this page though… the stuff on the sleeve shown on eBay suggests there's more to it…

A mix of pop and folk/pop, mostly low intensity mat'l, and even less compelling than their comp of early recordings, available from the same label. Some of these cuts have a distinct demo vibe about them, and probably are. Comes with a hefty booklet telling all about the recording of these tracks, which span from 1969~72. This Lp pressed in a numbered run of 600 copies. Grades - 2 B-'s, 7 C+'s, 3 C's, and 4 C-'s.

I'd like to know the story on those as well.  There are always a couple of those on eBay if you search on "Beach Boys acetate" or "Beach Boys test pressing."

Hubert Kah appears to be a 1980's German Electronic/synth pop Dance band.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Kah
Searching around...  Heres a stock for the Hubert Kah song:  http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hubert-Kah-Angel-07-Japna-45-W-PS-700-Yen-/120744499192  ( CBS/Sony)

 and here's a youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JREDamB4JV8&list=PL462A14134FE2391C&index=2

As to why they're paired on an acetate....

This is pretty baffling. I know Kah's 2 hits that he had, but are unfamiliar with this song - although there is a discotheque in my town bearing the name "Engel 07", which I thought was a name derived only from its address of 7, Engelbosteler Damm. This explains in a way why they have Depeche Mode parties now and then there. Haven't been there yet, but I know a few people who go there regularly.

OK, that was probably not really interesting to 99.99% of you...
