Brian Wilson is ridiculously lucky to have her anywhere near his name or music in 2014. A brilliant, sharply observed and darkly comic song:

Agreed. That's a great song. Nearly freaked first time I heard it. When I heard it on the radio - actually, I stopped freaking out, it was that good. If I would have been driving a car and listening to Wink Martendale I would've pulled my car RIGHT over.

I think I've said this before here, but maybe not. Video Games is one of the few songs I specifically remember first hearing. I was headed to a friend's apartment in Uptown listening to our public radio music station (The Current) and it came on just as I was pulling up. Not sure whether I liked or disliked it, I finished my horrific parallel parking and sat there with the car on until the song ended. Because it wasn't the final song of the set, they didn't say who the artist was, so I had to look it up afterward.

Dig the Lana Del Ray convo happening. My favourite song of hers is definitely 'Shades of Cool' off her last album - I'm usually not a big fan of her singing style, but the way her voice goes up during parts of the song is just ecstatic. Something very unique about it.

As for the thread, been listening to some hip-hop today:

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Public Enemy - Fight the Power (song)
Eminem - Lose Yourself (song)
Kanye West - The College Dropout
NWA - Straight Outta Compton (song)

I'm listening to the clock ticking, awaiting the next album for the listening club thread. Lowbacca's choice, I think?

We'll see.

Don't like this as much as the previous one. Plainer and with less interesting sounds. Still some good tracks. I like Yu, Nobody and Get n Drunk.

That is a really good version.

A little busy with guest spots - it would be nice to hear this guy on his own without a dozen extra rappers - but a good listen and some good tracks.

Never Be The Same featuring Jay Rock is my favourite on here.

Paranoid featuring B.o.B.

Or Nah featuring The Weeknd, Wiz Khalifa and DJ Mustard

This may be a slightly odd request but does anyone know of any particularly definitive recordings of the Gilbert & Sullivan stuff? I have had a warm feeling towards a lot of that music for a while but don't really know where to start with listening.
