Bon Jovi - Last Cigarette (references Brian Wilson)

And there is a song by a female where she sings about dreaming she met BW, I believe there is also a reference toMLandy..*  I have the disc somewhere, can't recall her name or the name of the song.**

*Phone won't let me correct "toMLandy" or extra period.  Should be "to Landy".
**Cindy Lee Berryhill - Song for Brian

Pancreas isn't the only Weird Al song that has Beach Boys themes:

The Brianista Prayer

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name
Your Kingdom Come,
Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,
Give Us This Day, Our Shortenin' Bread
And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.
Amen.  ---hypehat

Carl's Song by the Magic Numbers. Apparently sung by Carl to the composer in a dream.

1. In Sonic Youth's Tunic (Song for Karen), Kim Gordon relates, "I'm in heaven now - I can see you, Richard/Goodbye Hollywood, goodbye Downey/Hello Janis, hello Dennis, Elvis". Since the middle Wilson also features in the video to Sonic Youth's Teenage Riot, I think we can be pretty confident that "Dennis" is our man.

2. Soko sings that she will "never love you more than", inter alia, "God Only Knows".

3. I long ago lost my copy of Look! Listen! Vibrate! Smile!, but I recall reading in it than some manner of punk rock band had a song called Kill Mike Love.

Nice to see this thread is still going! I forgot one, "Universal Frequencies" by His Name Is Alive, from Stars on ESP (4AD, 1996). William Defever, the group's mastermind and sole constant member, said during period interviews that this song was his attempt to write a sequel to "Good Vibrations".

That was quite uncalled for, Gertie. I think you should apologize to Amy.

Actually, it is, according to Marilyn when I asked her in 1983, and again in 1986.

2john k: Thanks for bringing this thread up again! Your list is very impressive, though 1 tune, Andi's "Perfect Summer Day" can't be found. It's posted on the other forum at page 2. Can you update the link since you, actually, shared that song? Thanks in advance.

"Jesus Loves You, Brian Wilson" by Lost Dogs

Jolly good, only I'd rather get rid of those repetitive "doo wah doo wah"s.

"Universal Frequencies" by His Name Is Alive
Fine attempt, beautiful church organ ending. Still, as it usually is, the initial version is superior to the follower(s).

Some additions: Billy Hinsche - One In A Million;
Kayla Williams - First American Band;
Alan Carvell - Every Wilson Tune;
The Righteous Brothers - Rock & Roll Heaven (remake);
The Four Seasons - No Surfin' Today;
Dan Scarpa - Vanilla Island;
Bikeride - Carl Wilson Suite
Entire album dedicated to Carl called "The CW Lake Mystery"

Thank you for your kind words! And thanks for pointing out that the link to the song by Andi has done a runner.

After a spot of detective work I discovered that "Perfect Summer Day" is a composition by Dave Coe with lyrics (and, i assume, vocals) by Andrea C. Crimmins. Okay, it's a demo but it's still a song about The Beach Boys, and surely that justifies its inclusion in this topic:

From the album Good Songs About People Who Make Good Songs Always by The Passionate and Objective Jokerfan:

"A Song About Al Jardine"
"I Have Love For Mike Love"
"Carl Wilson, Good Guy"
"Robert Schneider Is The Brian Wilson Of His Generation"

I kid you not. Listen on Spotify.

There's a Kathy Mattea country song called "455 Rocket".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQZV6q00sUc

It's about her buying a car from a little old lady, and the car has a huge engine in it.  She drives it all over the place, and wrecks it one day... there's a line where she says "As we skidded... I thought I heard the angels sing.... It sounded like the Beach Boys"

Wow, very impressive investigation, John! Thank you again! I immediately liked that song, understated beauty.

NB: Since there's no download link & because I'm not a fan of just on-line listening to music, more of a downloader, I did some detective work too & found this really useful information:
http://audials.com/en/how_to_record_internet_radios/broadjam.html - scroll down & read how to use this Audials Tunebite thing after downloading it to your comp. It's free! I'd already done that & it works nicely! Hopefully, it works for you too! Enjoy (all)!
