Little Bird: https://soundcloud.com/mikeleroymusic/little-bird

I think this may be it, I went back through and re equalized the vocals, the bass vocals (previously hidden) are now pushed more toward the sides for a bit of a wider sound.

oh, and the intro is a cool reference!

Short, but pretty sweet if I may say so myself...

FOTM, Little Bird sounds great!

*pauses to beat head against desk for still not sending you KMB* Give us a bit. I think you mean the cello, so I'll get rid o' that. ... Wait, do you mean just whatever is playing the melody in the verse? I think that's what you meant? Give us a shout. Sorry, yet again.

In other news, for shits and giggles I made a version of Slip On Through that's very disco. Needs someone to channel Prince on lead. I'll upload it if anyone's interested?

Yeah, I've been chained to the dreaded wages all day, but I'm fixing some of the weird clashes in the 'tossed and I turned' bits as I listened to it again and it took years off of my life. They're all really close together there.

As for Slip On Through, this is just my first day of doing it - I need to fix a lot, like the weird pause between the first two sections, the guitar tone is a bit too overdriven for my Nile Rogers fanaticism, the drums need redoing - thinking maybe bringing the 16ths in strictly at the end. As for structure, after the pause is where the lyrics start, and when the 16ths kick in in the middle is when the 'my life is growing' bit starts.

https://soundcloud.com/samblack-1/slip-on-through-instrumental

It also possibly needs more some 'stuff'. I can't quite hear what it is. I'm torn between making a Chic circa 1978 epic with strings and horns, or something a lot more compact and funky, a la Lose Yourself To Dance on the new Daft Punk.

Wasn't hype doing the lead for Stevie? If not, I'd volunteer Smiley

The harmonies sounded good - I think Mike put them together.

I did the lead for Stevie! J has it, I think there was a harmony that never got filled?
Tbh, I'd like to try it again - I sang it sans one and a half front teeth...

Zach, at least try a bv arrangement for Slip on Through? If anyone wants to try a lead, be my guest - ill keep working up the track.

Ill finish KMB after work tomorrow, need to fix the strings. As ever.

Yep, all is fixed now, thank you  Grin

It did make me very conscious of all the S-sounds in the song, so it's possibly the most careful lead I've done in some time  LOL

Thanks for the quick response, HH, that's good news! Re: Stevie - would you mind sharing your 1st take of Stevie (don't know who J is)? If not, I'll anyway look forward to hearing your 2nd (hopefully, final) take of the song (since you've said you'd like to try it again). I'd already heard Billy's cover, so it'd be interesting to compare both different versions of "Stevie". Keep working on The BBs!

It does sound very good!

Lets finish up Stevie, we have all the pieces, sans a BV or two, so lets see what we can work up.

I'm taking Carl and Zach's got Al on the leads. Assuming we keep those "assignments" in the stacks, we've got room for a pretty substantial "Mike" part, and a less substantial high harmony. If nobody's comfortable in the high range, I can move up and let someone else handle the mid stuff.

CALLING SELTAEB!

On KMB, I am having a severe crisis with the backing tracks worth. I can't make it sound not sh*t to my ears. Stupid fake strings. I'll think of something, I can use different fake strings which sound more organic but are controlled via iPhone. I should fix up something easy, like Slip On Through or something else, to prove my worth.

I think if I remember correctly all the parts for Stevie are there. I just have to put a better mix on it. And Sam, you wanted me to un-tune the vocal, right?

Will keep u all posted!

And if anyone wants me to sing on anything, holler !!
