I really like it, but it fucks with my ears - stupid overcompression. Ever Present Past!

Funny story about how I got it - Back when I were 17 or so, I was starting to see this girl. And then this album came out, but it wasn't exactly high up on my  list of priorities. So I went to see her one day, she gave me it apropos of nothing and I was all like 'Cool! You didn't have to!' and she replied 'Oh, it was in the paper today and yadda yadda.' Turns out that paper was The Daily Mail. Which we summarily had a big argument about. But we're still good friends, as long as we don't talk about politics  Grin

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

That and Flaming Pie are the two post 80's ones I play the most. Good album.

"Only Mama Knows" is one of Paul's best rockers EVER. I think it even outrocks Junior's Farm and Helen Wheels. Maybe #2 only to Jet...

it's ok, agree with it sounding awful on the ears.  One of the worst sounding albums I've had.  I'm not a big fan of how his voice sounds on it though.

I love this album.  The songs are fantastic.  I actually think it may be the most inventive and creative solo album that Paul has ever done.

I also agree about the sound...the compressing makes it hard to listen to.

True!  Great, great rocker.

In fact, "Only Mama Knows" just sounds like a Wings song, and I mean that as a compliment!

I bought this CD new in a dollar bin last year and was totally blown away. The compression is a little annoying but I love the whole tenor of the album. It has such a heavy "growing old" feeling and is chalk full of memorable melodies. "Dance Tonight" makes me think of goofy, catchy Beatles songs like "Honey Pie." "Gratitude," "Mr. Bellamy," and "Nod Your Head" are other favorites and are also very "Beatlesy.". I bought the well-regarded Chaos and Creation in the Backyard from the same era and can't get into it all. MAF is definitely a perfect career cap album -- I'm not going to count "Kisses on the Bottom" since it's mainly covers.

After Chaos I had pretty high hopes for Maccas later career but ths album crushed it. To me the songwriting is lazy and the lyrics are terrrrible. Not to mention it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Chaos is far supreme.
