I was pondering on this the other day - while we tend to have 'favourite' and 'least favourite' Beach Boys albums, these do not tend to match up to the ones we play (or, in this case, don't) the most. So what are yours?

Oh, and one rule - for least played, you have to have listened to it at least once, the whole way through.

Mine tend to be skewed by order of acquisition - I had Pet Sounds long before anything else, so all I played was that non-stop for weeks until I thought 'what else did they do...?'

Least played can apply to a few to me - I played all the albums as I got them, but I'm in the process of truly listening to them, which means M.I.U, KTSA and So Tough all fall into the 'played once' category. Doesn't mean I dislike them - I'm just yet to avoid Today! etc when playing my Beach boys albums...

Most Played: Friends (which is a favourite)
Least Played: L.A. (Light Album) (somewhat odd since it was the third BB LP I ever bought and I just spin it so rarely)

Most played: Sunflower, Smile (both 2004 and 2011), TLOS, LY and SS/SUSA. As much as I hate to admit it, I usually play 15BO when I mow the lawn. Usually takes me through "Susie Cincinatti."

Least played: If you don't count BB 85 or patchier albums, weirdly enough, it's Pet Sounds. Not the individual songs, which I punch up on the ol' Ipod all the time, but the whole album. To listen to it is like going to church---I can't do anything else while it's on.

Most played are probably Smile (2004) and Love You, along with some of the better live bootlegs. I've also listened to Endless Harmony a *lot*.
Least played are Surfin' USA and Surfin' Safari, which I've barely listened to at all.

Most: probably Love You, which happens to be my favorite. Been spinning Surf's Up a lot lately too.

Least: probably either the Christmas album or Party (though I do like both of these!).

Ha ha! There's no excuse really. I just don't go for it very regularly - generally not into that pre 64 sound, but maybe some dedicated listens will change my mind.

Lately my most played has been SMiLE (TSS Disc 1) but previously it would have been So Tough.

Least played: I've only listened to Still Cruisin' and Stars & Stripes once each and have yet to make it all the way through the Christmas Album. I've actually done some A/B-ing of Summer In Paradise (US & UK versions) so that album has been listened to by me more than once.

For me, I've been playing Friends more than anything lately.  Love the vibe on that thing.

I've been listening to Imagination (for reference), some of GIOMH and Sounds of Summer. Also BB85. Again, for reference.

Most Played: Everything Pre-1976 with the exception of most of 15 Big Ones, Party and Stack-O-Tracks. Particularly 1963-1973.

Least Played: Post-1976 About 85% of Beach Boys songs up until the new album. Cool

In my lifetime, the most played BBs albums were probably LIGHT ALBUM, WILD HONEY and SUNFLOWER.  Though lately when I scroll up my I-Tunes I'm drawn to both 15 BIG ONES (because it's underexposed to me) and the first two surf albums (which just ooze vibe).

Least played -- SUMMER IN PARADISE, STILL CRUISIN', possibly SO TOUGH (I'm not a Fataar/Chaplin hater but those two tracks are such a slog, and I'm not a fan of "Make It Good" either).  Of the early albums, I'm probably least familiar with SHUT DOWN VOLUME 2.  Oh, and PARTY.  Fun listen once, but I haven't been motivated to spend much repeat time with it.

I been playing the hell out of Wild Honey this week. Also the few songs I've heard from the new LP. Haven't been playing much of anything else. 8 hour car ride tomorrow though, so I'll probably spin through everything at least once .
