On QVC Mike made a comment about how well the the new single TWGMTR is charting in England. Did anyone hear that? He didn't have to mention that.
I think U.K. dates will be added. How about a second leg of the tour? I don't think the BBs will forget you guys. Too much history with all the support given in the late 1960's and beyond.

And how well is it doing? Yeah, I looked up the UK charts and while it seems to be getting some radio play I couldn't find it on the charts.

Mike's a seasoned hype man, he's just using psychology; if he makes you believe that everyone else is buying the song, then you'll be more likely to buy it so as to not feel left out.

Doubting Capitol Kiwi surfer? Are you related to a certain P Cohen by any chance? Keep in mind they will be in Japan, Singapore (Hong Kong TBA?). Sure makes $ense to go a few extra hours south to Australia. The dollar is worth more than the $US at the moment. Why wouldn't they want a slice of that action? I'm not doubting for a moment that they will hit Aussie and perhaps Kiwi shores late August. My point was that a media report based on a press release is not definitive.

TWGMTR the single was number 2 for a while on Amazon UK's download list for rock. But it's not featured at all in the official UK top 100. I'd have bought it if they'd released a 45 or even a CD single. I'm simply not going to pay for an MP3.
I think the big problem with the UK is that we've got the ruddy Olympics in the summer and that means London is a no-go area for non-Olympic tourists (it's going to be gridlocked).

I hope they don't skip Perth Western Australia! I'd even take a performance akin to the one they gave when they were here 34 years ago!!! (Maybe even "take enthusiastically", Brian was definitely more... active and they were playing cuts off Love You!)

And how well is it doing? Yeah, I looked up the UK charts and while it seems to be getting some radio play I couldn't find it on the charts. He said it was getting "A rotation", not that it was charting, as I recall. And it probably *is* getting heavy rotation on Radio 2 (the most popular radio station, but with a demographic who, if they buy music at all, only buy albums and never as MP3s). The British charts go only off sales, while in the US radio play counts towards the charts as well, so it's unsurprising the single didn't chart over here.

It was Radio 2's "record of the week" last week. I didn't hear it but I don't listen to that much radio....maybe 25 minutes a day in the car. However, the car radio is usually locked into Radio 2 as it's the only thing the Mrs and I can agree is listenable! I bet Ken Bruce played it.
I think it might have charted had there been a physical release and some publicity. But with (as yet) no UK tour dates there's little point in putting money into the single here.

I think a "proper" promo video would/'ve contribute/d to pushing the song a bit further- the lyric vid doesn't quite cut it; a missed opportunity - in my old honest opinion

Good point. Even a video montage of them singing it I a studio--like that "sizzle reel"--would be better than that lyric video.

My boss was talking about that concert yesterday, she was there and she said they all seemed out of it and Dennis fell of the drums She said, the music itself was great but they were getting the lyrics wrong and missing words. She thought it was pretty amusing and had a great time.

Not quite true - the current UK 'singles' chart works off sales and downloads. Which I know are technically sales, yeah.

If not for the popularity in the UK from 1966-1974 the band would've disbanded. That I am certain of. There would not have been enough sales to keep them in the business. At least they wouldn't continued using the Beach Boys name.

Indeed. Overheard some of the band members talking about this and it appears attempts were made but it would have been a logistical nightmare. Rooms and venues were book years before this tour was ever imagined. Security concerns were also mentioned, in that the group would be required to obtain their own security services that would have to be cleared by the UK.

The thing that annoys me about this is the lack of information. If they just came out and said "unfortunately we won't be playing any UK/IRE shows" then we could make the decision to buy tickets for other EUR shows or not. But by keeping us waiting, we have no idea whether to fork out for another show or run the risk of paying for two plus flights and hotels. Just say "yes" or "no" and we can do what we want.
Personally I think it's a great shame and I have never seen the BBs in their entirety before. Looks like I never will......
I completely agree. I would've made plans to get tickets abroad if I knew from the start that they weren't coming to the UK. It's too late now though as all the decent tickets will be gone, and in any case they still haven't said they're not coming to the UK, they've just said nothing! I don't actually think they will be coming now, I was hanging on to hope that they would be but it's looking extremely doubtful . I am feeling very disappointed to say the least, it doesn't seem like the UK fans will be rewarded for all the support we've given over the years. All that said, I still love the boys and the music!

This is soooooo frustrating, as said above it's the not knowing that is frustrating. I am keeping September free at the moment in case they add extra dates (would the Olympics be finished by then?) but it would be great if they announced one way or the other. At the very least if someone could say that they are in negotiations/wanting to come over but hey ho. It just seems such a glaring omission in a world tour

The Italian shows are arena shows without any reserved seating, and I believe there are still tickets for them.

Maybe they're not saying a flat "no" because they're bustin' their buns trying to turn it into a "yes". Maybe in this instance, no news is good news. Unless you subscribe to the Cohen Of Silence.

Quite. I'm 99% sure we won't be seeing them in the UK, but I'd be very, very surprised if they weren't trying to book at least a handful of dates up to the very last possible moment.
