It's now 2wks after the recent article from Capitol on 25th April stating that more tour dates are to be announced for Europe and further afield, apart from a couple that was announced to be in Spain that's all we've heard, when oh when are we going to hear something?
It's murder reading on here how good the boys are sounding and how great the concerts are without having to suffer the possibility of them not coming over to the UK.
Has anyone got news on further dates, and if as said by some on here that the boys read this board, come on guys put us out of our misery please!

It said more tour dates would be announced for Europe.

More were. (The Spanish shows.)

I wouldn't expect anything else at this point.

I appreciate that they announced the Spanish shows, it actually said more European territories would be announced so I was hoping the UK would be one of them. Also I'm sure the fans in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore are as eager as we are to hear something as they were mentioned too.

i don't see any reason to think it'd happen. They said there'd be more European dates, and then they announced Spain. There's only a six-day space after the European dates, for them to fit in Australia and Hong Kong. Given that we've got no reason to think they'll announce any, my advice is to try to get to one of the continental shows.

Thanks for the ridicule of other fans who just want to see the boys celebrate their 50th anniversary, I hope the Beach Boys don't feel the same way as you!

As I said they quoted European territories, plural! Really wanted to see them in the UK and hoped they would come and see their many fans here.

I imagine they might extend the tour to September and do a few shows in the UK/Ireland

That said, A UK tour might not happen at all

Bruce has said that they have to finish the tour by mid-August, on several occasions (though he's never said why).
Given that, I'd say it's an absolute certainty there won't be a UK tour. The only question is whether there'll be one UK show or no UK shows, and I strongly suspect it's the latter.

I still don't get his comment along the lines of 'they have locked us out' over a C50 UK tour. What was that about? The Olympics were announced 6 years and several BB lawsuits ago!

If it is to be no UK dates then it's a sad day for us all over here and a snub to a lot of there most ardent fans, let's hope it changes.
Personally I can't see why the Olympics and Queens Jubilee would have much impact on them finding dates over here surely there are plenty of venues and promoters only to willing to put them on?

I wouldn't consider it any kind of snub, just that they haven't been able to arrange anything. Given the well-known Anglophilia of some of the band, I'd assume it's not for want of trying.
The Olympics and Jubilee don't stop them playing the UK in themselves, of course, but they do make it more difficult in that many otherwise suitable venues will be in use and they will make it utterly impossible for the band to play London -- and while as a Northerner I hate the way London dominates the UK, it *is* the obvious place to play.

There's also the tax stuff AGD has alluded to, as well -- if they can't make enough money to make it worth their while here, they'll not do it.

And finally there's the type of venue they're playing on this tour -- they're playing stadia, at least in Europe. Other than gigs where they're not the sole attraction (the Epsom show last year where there was horse racing, the tour with Status Quo), neither Mike & Bruce's band nor Brian have been able to fill venues much larger than a largeish theatre in the UK. Without a big publicity push to let everyone know that this is different to either of those shows (and even possibly then) I don't see them doing much better in terms of venues. If the tour bookers want to get them in places like the MEN Arena, but the only places interested in booking them are the size of the Manchester Apollo, then it's not going to happen.

The thing that annoys me about this is the lack of information. If they just came out and said "unfortunately we won't be playing any UK/IRE shows" then we could make the decision to buy tickets for other EUR shows or not. But by keeping us waiting, we have no idea whether to fork out for another show or run the risk of paying for two plus flights and hotels. Just say "yes" or "no" and we can do what we want.

Personally I think it's a great shame and I have never seen the BBs in their entirety before. Looks like I never will......

Looking on the bright side, it may well be that they're not saying anything because they're still desperately trying to arrange something. And yes, it is a great shame. I'm very lucky in that I *can* afford to go to two foreign shows, through a combination of financial circumstances that have never happened to me before, and I'm aware of just how incredibly fortunate I am that this tour is happening now -- six months ago I couldn't have even considered it. The vast majority of people can't, and I wish there was some way of fixing that. But I'm not going to assume that a decision not to play the British isles is intended as any kind of slight to us.

I guess that's what I was trying to put over in my original post, it would be nice to know just one way or the other.
Looking at the schedule of the concerts there is a gap between 15 to 21 July unless that's for the guys to rest before coming over to Europe after the US concerts. There is also another gap between 7 to 16 August when they leave Europe to go to Japan.
Let's just hope we might get something added in there but like you say just let us know, PLEASE.
It would also be interesting to know why as posted on here by someone that Bruce Johnston said that they have to have these concerts over by mid August?

I could have sworn the gap before the European shows was much shorter. Have some of the gigs been cancelled?

I don't think so I took the dates from the official website so I guess unless they have added more and haven't put them up that is the time frame at the moment.

I’m not sure that article constitutes a tour announcement being based solely on the Capitol Records press release of some 3 weeks ago.

Doubting Capitol Kiwi surfer?

Are you related to a certain P Cohen by any chance? Grin

Keep in mind they will be in Japan, Singapore (Hong Kong TBA?). Sure makes $ense to go a few extra hours south to Australia. The dollar is worth more than the $US at the moment. Why wouldn't they want a slice of that action?

Not according to the exchange rates I'm seeing. They're essentially at parity, with the US dollar just very slightly stronger.

But that's neither here nor there, because on the QVC special they just played, Mike specifically mentioned Australia when he rattled off a bunch of countries that they're going to play in.

Exactly. I was about to post this.  So it seems they will be heading to Australia, I mean, Mike would know.
