It's like how Mike was blatantly autotuned at Knebworth... It drags the DVD down MILES.

Absolutely crazy autotuning of Brian's voice. Anyone who can't hear it has terrible hearing.

But...

Plus points...
- Brian does sound strong underneath the autotune
- Mike sounds great
- Al and Bruce get a great harmony sound going in the middle,
- Jeff sounds great on the top
- Backing band as awesome as you would expect

It's not fun to mock the disabled you know.

Seriously though I damaged my hearing at a metal/hardcore gig 6 years ago and I have mild tinnitus, makes it hard for me to pick certain things out.

Didn't notice it on Knebworth either.

I'm played in lots of loud rock bands for years and only started wearing earplugs about 8 months ago, so my hearing is probably pretty far gone.

I'm laughing my ass off about idiots here thinking they can hear auto-tune on a recording like this.  Meanwhile, EVERYBODY that was at the show says that it didn't sound like that.  EVERYBODY!   LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL

That's because autotune was not present. This was 1980. Autotune (Antares Vocal Processor) wasn't around until 1997.

Interesting regarding the Bruce comment, I hadn't even noticed that. If Brian was autotuned and others are commenting on it is it likely that they are not entirely happy about it? Whatever the story I just hope we enjoy the tour, they enjoy it and they finish it on a high!

OK, after viewing that video, I can hear it much more clearly now. My bad. Color me disappointed. Undecided

But that leaves the question as to why some people at the concert didn't hear what we are hearing.

There's something about being at a live show that minimizes holes in the performance.

I'm sure some people heard it, but probably aren't active on these message boards.

I envy everyone who says they can't hear it.

Think with regards to Knebworth, on the DVD version around today, Mike's voice has definetly been enhanced - live it won't have been as you say, but for the version we see of the concert, there has been some work.

For anyone who can't hear it at the AZ concert, listen to the Surfer Girl Brian-solo mid section, on the second "I.... would take you" - the pitch on the I fluctuates from perfect to zero, whereas normally in concert it would go a note or two down.

But having said that, it really does not matter, it's just great to see them performing live together again and doing a great job.

All it takes is ears, d00d. Clear as day on Brian's voice. An audience recording on any device is not just gonna magically create what sounds like autotune on only Brian's voice.

Also, one person said they didn't hear it - not "EVERYBODY! LOLOLOLOL"

The mix was done after 1980. There is hella autotune on Mike on the show, so much so that he sounds pretty hilarious.

Hear how his voice sounds like it "glitches" and skips around a bit note-wise? How he sounds like a robot? "WHEEHHEHEEHENNNN SOOMMEEEE LLOOUDOUDDD BRARANGNGNGRRNGNGR TRRAHHSHHSS TOOO PUUPUTTTUTUTUT YOU DOOOWOWNONWOWNOWNN"?

Probably the spot where it's most clear and obvious, but the whole of "Heroes" is just a mess :\

I wonder why Al isn't singing on Heroes? I would prefer to hear him as lead on H&V.

I wish whoever recorded the concert had recorded some of the other songs, like Disney Girls or Help Me Rhonda, so we could get a feel for what the other lead vocals sound like.
wish in one hand and sh#t in the other mate! the guy did his best.

From what I hear the guy who really needs auto tuned is Mr Foskett.

And no I'm not trying to kick that old chestnut off again...  Just saying.

another thing I'm noticing, because I'm separating the tracks into single songs (and therefore listening to the few seconds in between each song multiple times), is that there's a lot of false starts. like, Cowsill I guess will do the count-in and then only like one person will come in so they do the count in again and that's when the song starts.

the band should be paying more attention!
