A bunch of Magnetic Fields songs: "1000,000 Fireflies"; "When You Were My Baby"; "The Saddest Story Ever Told"; and "Born On A Train". (Also check out cover of "Born on A Train" by The Cat's Miaow!)
A few weeks ago I listened to "Quick!" (from the recent LP) 20-30 times a day.  Cheesy

At this point I've listened to everything they've done up to 69 Love Songs, though I've only listened to Distortion since then -- I quite liked "California Girls" and "Too Drunk to Dream" but besides those songs I thought it was kinda hit-or-miss. Is their new album worth checking out?

Anyone here a fan of Guster?

I listen to about 10 of their songs I didn't care for any of them but I came across this song "Careful" and I'm obsessing on it. Do you have any other recommendations on their best songs?

No thanks! I'll buy it one of these days.

I own most of Dylan's studio albums - for some reason I've never bought this one.

Van Morrison - The Way Young Lovers Do

I've been getting into Van Morrison recently and am really digging Astral Weeks. There's something about this song in particular that's so interesting.

I posted earlier about the British contemporary of Dusty Springfield and Sandie Shaw, Kathy Kirby. There are three different clips at YouTube of a 45 she did in 1972, of the Paul Williams/ Roger Nichols song "Do You Really Have A Heart," apparently first recorded by Dobie Gray three years earlier. I came across it last week and have been playing it twice a day. The song and arrangement are much more contemporary-sounding that most of Kirby's other work I've heard, and the vocal is gentler, more sensual, than her usual approach...the timbre a bit like Dusty's, phrasing a bit like Karen Carpenter's.

Word. Have you heard Boots Of Spanish Leather, rab? It's beautiful.

As for me, this album gets a little less mileage (I love Bob goofin' off, so Freewheelin' or Another Side is more my style) but this is such a good album. Been going through a Bob phase lately.

Bloody love them - kinda sucks he didn't go in and demo much beyond 1964, really. A Witmark demo of Rolling Stone would be something to behold...
