Setlist for Sirius XM concert tonight
Do It Again
Catch A Wave
Surfin' USA
I Get Around
409
Shut Down
You're So Good To Me
Help Me, Rhonda
Heroes and Villains
That's Why God Made the Radio (new)
Good Vibrations
Good Vibrations (they played it twice)
California Girls
Kokomo
Fun Fun Fun
it was really good
No Brian leads, I notice. Looks like the reunion is sapping his confidence. Maybe he can start chain smoking before the tour is done.
Unless you count GV. And unless he sings YSGTM (unlikely... that seems like an Al Jardine mini-set).
And who knows who sings lead in the new song.
But I think showing up, singing backgrounds, a few if any leads, not having to play frontman, while playing some piano and letting the others do most of the job, seems like a decent deal for Brian.

Yes, hopefully this is what he wants. (I still hope for a traded leads mini set for Al and Brian on YSGTM and Heroes ...)

Also, gotta admit that the set is well conceived. Songs everybody sounds good on, hits-packed, varied, nice flow, a new song, all their #1's, great opener, can't do any better.

Jeff?! Brian is the only guy on this tour to have taken the lead on GV since Carl passed. And yeah, Jeff helps him out on that note, but he wouldn't take the lead. Hell, Brian even took the lead for that on the Grammies, with Jeff in the stunt double role, which could be put down to the pressure of the situation. But even pessimistically, I wouldn't classify that as a Jeff lead vocal.
As for 'disaster', they did play Heroes & Villains. But no Pet Sounds is a shame.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

I think most of us knew when this tour was announced that we weren’t going to get a ton of mind-blowing setlist selections. They feel a need to the hits just for the sake of doing the hits. Add to that the novelty of a “50th anniversary” production, and it’s going to lean heavily towards that. I was kind of hoping they might at least forego maybe “409” or “Shut Down” or something and include something from a bit later. But if they’re going to the trouble of having David Marks there, I’d actually like to hear him play on the stuff he actually played on originally, so in that sense the early stuff like “409” takes on more meaning than it has in some years.
This setlist was a mini-set anyway. They presumably aren’t even done rehearsing for the tour. We got mostly meat and potatoes numbers because they all know those songs the most, and that’s what we’re usually going to get on TV or radio shows with brief sets. We’re probably lucky we got “H&V”, “You’re So Good to Me”, and the new track.
I’m the last fan in the world that trots out the “let’s be positive, let’s just be thankful they’re playing at all” argument. But c’mon, a short set for a radio special, and we’re already throwing around words like “disaster.” They’re not going to whip out “Johnny Carson” or “Here Today” or “Steamboat” for a mass radio audience when they’ve only been rehearsing together for a few days.
I’m more concerned with how the band actually sounded. The expected hits will have new life breathed into them if the band actually sounds solid. Yes, if somehow they ended up continuing to tour together again after this year, I’d probably say for a 2013 tour they could start swapping out some old stuff for some new stuff. I wouldn’t be content forever to have the meat and potatoes set. But just this once, I think it will be fine as long as the performances are solid enough. Whether justified or not, whether it’s a good thing or not, a lot of this tour is about the novelty of seeing and hearing them together again.

Good post and a great way to look at the mini-concert (which we haven't heard yet. I won't say "no one's heard" because I don't want to start that whole thing again here!)
H&V, TWGMTR and YSGTM are probably just enough newer songs to put into a short mini concert for the masses. We all know that Joe Public isn't waiting on them to whip out the more obscurer songs here--they just want to hear them together. I'm sure a true set list from an actual show will reveal a more varied set. We'll see soon enough....

Nice set. Of course the touring concerts will be longer but this is a nice way to start and to remind everybody what made the Beach Boys famous in the first place. I hope they'll do "Shut down" and "You're so good to me" in Berlin. There certainly won't be too many rarities in the set (I guess) but the inclusion of H&V in this performance shows that they won't just do the surf stuff plus GV. I wonder which version of H&V they played.
No "Barbara Ann" !!!! They could keep it that way imo (won't happen though)

I will say that YSGTM sounded great at Al's Roxy show a couple weeks back. I would look forward to hearing that on this tour.

It would be nice if they were doing the "official" SMiLE version of "Heroes & Villains" if only to hear Mike on the cantina bridge.

I notice from the Hoffman board that Surfer Girl was also in the set list last evening , and also details of where the recording took place

Good Vibrations, Heroes & Villains?
He also could have sang lead or parts of leads on Catch A Wave and You're So Good To Me, as well.

Per the Hoffman board poster, "as best he could remember" Brian sang lead on YSGTM . No discussion of other lead vocals. Matt Jardine not in the backing band. Approx 60-70 in attendance. Since we know they also did Surfer Girl, wouldn't be surprised if Brian did other leads as well.

I don't really care, this set list looks awesome to me. If you're only going to play 15 or so songs, of course they're going to do the hits.
How a Beach Boys fan can't get excited to see "You're so Good To Me".... with Brian Wilson singing even if he's singing backup... is beyond me. That's going to be cool as sh*t!
Catch A Wave, with Mike Love doing bass vocals? That's going to kick ass.
And excuse me while I faint, after reading we get to hear the surviving Beach Boys do an acapella bit (right?) in the middle of Heroes and Villians. If you aren't excited to hear Al/Bruce/Brian/Mike at least singing part of the harmonies to that you need to turn your card in.
