One "big" in the title would've seriously undersold the important of this news

That will probably be the album title I would suppose as well.  It doesn't necessarily mean it's the last album, though... just a clever title.

Not necessarily, of course. After all, the 1976 album wasn't called 'It's OK'.

Tool? I'm no tool, Shady. I don't get on Smile threads and upcoming 50th Anniversary album/concert threads on almost a daily basis and announce like a little girl, "I can't wait!" or "My Visa card is ready for the new release!" or "Anybody got any news - I might cream my jeans!" or "I don't know what I'm going to do with myself until it's released!" or "Boy, you sure are lucky to have that or be that or see that" or "I wish they would come to the UK"!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

In 1989, De La Soul released their first album, "Three Feet High And Rising".  In 1991, they released the follow up, "De La Soul is Dead".

Then came Buhloone Mindstate; Stakes is High; AOI: Mosaic Thump; AOI: Bionix; The Grind Date, and they're working on a new album.

That De La Soul is Dead album was AWESOME though.  You guys should download it.

Dude, you are a major tool..

I get it, you've had a strange problem with me since the smile thread, I couldn't care less, you've taken shots at me off and on since then and I've ignored them..

But now it's just weird. If me being a fan or being excited for a new tour or album bothers you, block me or something.. And don't make up quotes, that's lame

So much for my Beach Boys-y song "Summer's Gone" that I wrote last year.

Don't feel too bad. The Swinging Blues Jeans beat you to the punch by about 45 years with this little Beach Boys inspired number:

If the album title is "Summers Gone" I wonder if that's symbolic of this maybe being their last album?

Does anybody really think this isn't the last album?

Nope! If this one goes well, I would not be surprised to see another album down the road.

Cautionary note: We have no confirmation from any source that "Summer's Gone" is the title of anything except the PBS doc.

Very true, Doc. But I'm not on these threads night and day letting everyone know that I'm just pining away for it and I'm gonna have a cardiac arrest if it doesn't happen soon! When it happens, it happens and dates may slip (just like Smile did) and there's nothing that none of us can do about it! Why take up space with that B.S.? When is it coming out? Anybody heard? I can't wait! Oh poo!

And you can see that under his avatar, he's STILL waiting for the Smile Sessions to be released! Grin

Here's a guy who posts a video that he took of a Brian Wilson (or was it Mike & Bruce, I couldn't tell) concert and you couldn't even hear the music over all the talking and carrying on that he was doing. Serious!

Dude!

Dude!

Mikie you sound like a bitter guy

We both got better things to do on a Friday and I don't wanna risk suspension by telling you what I seriously think.

So I apologise for getting too excited, for getting nervous over tour dates and for really dying to get my hands on the smile sessions and for singing along at concerts..

I'll just post a "that should be nice" now and then Smiley

The whole management seems to get it right this time (as far as we can say) that I hope they'll make sure that if the album is good/great and sells well, there'll be no second album...... this doesn't necessarily mean that they should kill one of the guys, before anyone suggests that.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Well, it would be totally great if there were more to come but are we to assume that Brian is willing to work again with the rest of the band?  My own feeling is that he's extending himself just for this tour/album and then again cutting off his availability to the band.  I'll be very glad to be wrong though...

I agree.  If this sells well, and Mike Love is still conscious, you can bet there will be some incarnation of Beach Boys putting out "Summer's Back" and "Summer's Gone Again."

BBC's got nothing on PBS. Can't wait.

Seriously? Have you ever seen The Real  Beach Boy documentary? I doubt this will be anywhere near the quality of that one.

I finally just recently saw the BBC “Real Beach Boy” documentary. It was a great doc, great interviews. All around great in terms of content. But I think a better film can be made, just in terms of presentation. The editing/pacing and narration of the documentary was not bad at all, but came off a bit cheap/cheesy. That probably had to do mainly with only having a certain amount of running time, and to do with needing that sort of British version of the “E! True Hollywood Story” narrator.

It sounds like whatever shows on PBS on this Beach Boys thing is going to be much more performance-centered, and not a straight documentary.

The BB’s *desperately* need a long-form, multi-part documentary done while the guys that remain are still alive. “Endless Harmony” is the best we’ve got, but something much longer and in-depth is needed.

Wow. I've seen A LOT of films (documentaries, indies, Hollywood) and The Real Beach Boy is in my top 3 favorite films ever. Are you sure you saw this film?

I have to agree with your last sentence: I'd love to see HBO do a miniseries.

I hope this isn't their last album but hasn't Brian been talking about plans for future solo stuff? so why not do other Beach Boys albums instead of solo stuff, also they are headed into their 70's who knows how long any of them are going to live (just look at Davy Jones)or if they even FEEL like doing more cds within the next couple years or how healthy they will be,let's face it alot of musicians usually slow down when they get into their 70's and some stop all together..so I'm going to be realsitic and say that there's a chance that this may be thier last cd together  Sad it's sad but we have to except their mortality..
