...that's the word as reported by a poster at the Steve Hoffman board:

The Beach Boys have been moved to the closing act of the New Orleans Jazz and Blues festival's opening night and Blondie Chapman has been added to the band.

Yes, he's way off on Blondie's name.... anyway...thought it was worth mentioning here....

Excellent news if it's true. Hope Blondie (and Ricky) play quite a bit more shows than just the first one.

Just like old times......

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

If true I would think the likelihood of him joining the tour full time is very good. I think the only thing that was holding him back up to now was that he was never acknowledged/invited to participate.   Any Stones work would most likely happen starting in the fall with rehearsals happening at the tail end of summer, so there is a good chance he could participate in a good majority of the first half of the tour.

I really hope this is true. It really would be the cherry on top of the whole reunion. I really hope they do "Sail On, Sailor" and "Wild Honey" with Blondie on vocals.

Misspelled name actually gives me confidence. Someone that unfamiliar with the band wouldn't be making it up out of nothing.

And yes, if Blondie is along I would say the chances of a live "Sail on Sailor" would be very high indeed.

He's a brief but vital part of the band's legacy - he should be there.

Hello ? One unsubstantiated post on the Hoff ? I'll rein in my enthusiasm until I hear it from a more reliable source.

Agreed. Blondie has, I'm sure, enough on his plate if he is booked to accompany the Stones.

If he did tour with The Beach Boys, fabulous – one of several potential cherries on the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned (add Steady Eddie, Carli and one or two others and we're travelling back to the 70s touring heyday!).

But anything from the Hoff has to be taken with a dose of salts.  Who's the guy who posted that any way? An insider? or just a poster with a whim?

Bugger, that's me banned already…  Grin

This whole board is slow! Where'd everybody go? All the Smile-o-Philes go home after Smile's release?

Maybe I'll go start a fire........get a viscious rumor going or something.  Tongue

Thaz right!

Read last night that The Beach Boys have been relegated to the last show on the first night of the Jazz Festival.

Is that good? Are they the encore band (good) or are they being placed on the back-burner (as not important)?

Buddy Guy is awesome, and him on back home would actually rock.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

in the usual concert setting, the last band is the headliner, which with this Jazz Fest should be a good thing.

Those kind of festivals aren't anymore strictly about blues and jazz. See the Montreaux festival. It would be nice though, if the Beach Boys cramp out some of their more jazz oriented songs like Caroline, No or stuff from Friends

Well, yeah, that's the way it's always been, but look at the line-up! For those going in person, man, you gotta sit through a LOT of acts to get to The Boys!

That's probably why they spread out the best groups (Petty, Eagles, Springsteen) on different days. Those guys'll probably be the encore acts for those days.

Can I hear a "Duuuuuuhhhhh"?  Grin

Umm..I went to a blues festival in Laguna beach 10 yrs ago or so..Many acts .The ones i remember were Maria Muldair. Jimmie Vaughn.Fabulous  thunderbirds with Kid Ramos.. Rod Piazza + headliner Robert Cray band. Plus some local acts..The day was very long at it was on a sunday{work the next day} Well by the time Cray came on 3/4 of the audience..WAS GONE.. I felt really bad for him and i stayed + he COOKED.. So the audience was worn out. Im not saying this will happen to BB but it is possible but unlikely..
