Actually I would love to collaborate with you guys ,however work commitments family and different time zones make it nigh on impossible for me.

i'm in the same boat as Dave--work is crazy busy and my wife and i are expecting our first little one any week now (Smiley)... BUT i'm actually kinda intrigued by the idea of an international smileysmile-based e-collaboration. one of us could do a backing track.. Dave records the Brian/Al parts, i do the Bruce/Carl ones, Mike does the Dennis/Mike ones.. i'd be happy to piece it all together.

not a bad thought...

That would be something to see - a lot is possible with things like dropbox and email, and I don't see why you couldn't work on each others songs in a similar method, if you and Dave have them. Or something for the next Mike Leroy album, maybe?  Smiley

Congratulations are in order too, egon! I wish you two the best  Grin

Also, I've been talking with IronHorseApples (Stephen) about collaboration, so maybe he'd be in too?

It would be interesting to record something with a mix of our voices and another person doing the backing track, because , quite frankly I'm sick of hearing my own voice all the time lol. Also my daughter is starting school next week so I might have bit more time on my hands
I'd be happy to provide the top two vocals for any kind of BB's cover. California Girls is another song Im thinking of tackling.
Any other ideas for an initial BBs song?

(BTW good luck with the new bub Egon)

Oh, sorry Egon! I just re-read your post! Congrats! I love babies, they make everywhere a happy environment (well, for an hour or two, then it's WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!)

Anyway, I'm up to anything in the moderate range of difficulty, so California Girls is a possibility. Maybe Egon could do the backing track, I could add some guitar parts over then do leads, and dmc could do backing? Just an idea, i'm not sure if CG is the best idea, i was thinking more Pet Sounds/Smile/Friends/Later style Brian

the more the merrier, as far as i'm concerned.

honestly, i'm probably way underestimating how complex this project would be, but i keep thinking of Add Some Music as a great showcase of all the Boys' voices. God Only Knows could also be a good three-person one (each one takes one verse, one part during the vocal bridge, and one part at the end). i'm up for anything, though, as long as it's a good "group" song.

here's the procedure i'm envisioning:

1) we decide on a song and choose vocal parts;
2) one of us works out a vocal arrangement and circulates it to everyone else;
3) mike or i could do a quick backing track (just as a place holder, so we can lay down the vocals sooner rather than later);
4) each of us records our vocal parts, mixing each one (brian, carl, etc.) down to a single wav file;
5) everyone sends their vocal mixdowns to me/mike/whomever for mixing;
6) all the while, mike and i work on filling out the backing track.

i'd be willing to take a crack at the vocal arrangement for whatever song we land on, if need be. i use a fairly basic midi program to write out the vocal parts when i'm figuring out a new song.. maybe i could do a separate "guide" midi for each vocal part? like, one with just Brian's lines, one with just Carl's, etc... this could really turn out great!

p.s. thanks for the well-wishes, guys.. very exciting time! (plus we just got this shirt in the mail, which makes me even happier):

Both songs sound great, I think GOK would be cool because I could play the horn parts on trumpet (basically identically to the French Horn part, unless someone has a French horn Razz) and I could do Bass and maybe some subtle guitar.
Also, the vocal parts are complex, but open enough so everyone could record an accurate part by ear.

Sounds cool, Maybe you could play just the piano first and I could start on some various overdubs.

here's the procedure i'm envisioning:

1) we decide on a song and choose vocal parts;.....

Or,..... you could collectively come up with an original song as a joint collaboration by way of sending ideas and vocals back and forth. Something I'd personally find way more interesting to hear than a cover of a Beach Boys song. Surf School Dropouts did something similar last year where we came up with vocals and harmonies for a backing track that the Man from Another Place asked us to contribute to. Everything was done via emails between Scotland and Denmark and it was a very fun experience. Here's the result:

Enjoy fatherhood Egon.  Smiley I had a daughter one and a half year ago and it's the best thing that's ever happend to me. You really have something to look forward to.
