Unmitigated disaster with my TSS box

Within an hour of having opened it and inspected its contents, I accidentally kicked over an entire bottle of wine on that LP-sized book. To ask the obvious: what's to do?

  well, I am so careful, what with my OCD about prized possessions... and this was the first time that I actually decided to take things a bit more loosely.

Reminds me of the time I bought a 5 disc box set (not this one), put them in a plastic carrying case, and knocked it off the counter, resulting in the CDs falling out and the carrying case smashing three of the discs.

I'm the same regarding OCD for CDs at least -  I didn't open my box for about a week, until all the family were away… it's now back in its packing case waiting for a special moment again…

I was gutted a few years ago when a friend's dog ate a Neil Young CD and a John Martyn CD. Gutted…

Oh, Don, I'm sorry  Even I, the resident drunk of the board, managed to not spill my wine on my Smile box. I made sure, upon pouring out the glass of wine, that I positioned my box away from hazardous substances. Seeing as I live in a student house in South London, it was necessary to ensure that my Smile box now lies in a vacuum sealed capsule somewhere in the Scottish highlands, safe and sound.

The rest of us should rejoice as our pristine sets are now worth just a few cents more on the collectors market.  If hypehat can be persuaded to drop his in a toaster, guitarfool2002 smothers his in Marmite and Pixeltwin smears his in lovelies, my own box will be damn-near priceless.

I'm not going anywhere near it with this mug of Douwe Egberts, mind…

I had a similar mishap to THD when I bought an LP of The Many Moods of Murry Wilson for 50 euros and on my way through a large and somewhat threatening potted palm standing between me and the record player, scratched all of side one...

For my 14th birthday years ago my parents very kindly bought me a lavish Queen boxset called "Box of Tricks". Within literally about a minute of owning it my dickwad of an older brother attempted to open the pullout drawer within the elaborate packaging by trying to lift it up, thus ripping the entire left side of the box. I still haven't forgiven him.

Also a week or so back I rather foolishly attempted to grab a cd from the bottom of the stack of my ever growing record collection. Before you could yell TIMBER!! forty odd cds had crashed to the floor. I'm incredibly anal about my music collection; any scratch or scuff on a case and it has to be put in a new one. That was a bad day.

I doubt your as anal about your music collection as some people are on the Hoffman board.

This is more or less why, for a few years in there, I was typing everything without paragraph breaks no matter the length of the post: first a lovely friend, then I myself, had some incidents with wine and the computer I was using. The result was a still functioning machine, minus a few keys here and there (Enter/Return among them). It having been a not-inexpensive Mac laptop, I wasn't about to discard it.

As this post proves, eventually the problem was resolved.

Tough luck with the book, though. Want mine?
