Hey guys,

Had to go in on this after I heard Bruiteur's mix

.WAV file Download link is under the video.
Feel free to use it on your mix.

Niiiiice

This sounds so fucking great. PLEASE do the same for I'm In great Shape.  The vocal on this sounds cleaner than the box version.

No problem.
Lead vocal isolation credit goes to Bruiteur.
I just isolated his isolation.   Grin

Nice job seltaeb!..Would you mind putting up this isolated vocal, or PMing it to me..I need it for my edit of Barnyard.

Thanks!

Thanks bro - and Yes - Bruiteur is the man! I hope to be able to perform that level of vocal extraction one day.

Right now I'm working on trying to extract the lead vocal on Wonderful - for some reason the instrumental & final versions of the track don't sync up, even when placed in the same key. Anyone else notice this? Very strange...

Wow, great mix!   3D

Much appreciated my fellow SMiLE mixers. I enjoyed both of your mixes. Rock on!  Grin

Is it possible to isolate the "barnshine" vocals in some way? Just asking, since it looks like you're a miracle worker! Awesome job!

That could be a tough one, since it's sourced from an acetate (I think?) and the "Barnshine" vocals are mixed super low. But I'll definitely mess with it and see if something's possible from my end!

Yeah, I wanted to line up the stereo backing vocals with the pitch-corrected stereo backing track, but Ihad to throw in the towel on that one. There's something weird going on but I don't know what. An extra refrain somewhere or something. "Roll your own" my ass!

Hey guys,

I attempted to isolate the vocal from I'm In Great Shape.

Also had a little fun with the sequencing.   Cool

Check it out:

I would, but I think I'd rather let Bruiteur do it, since it's his work. Besides, he holds the best quality version. Smiley

Hint: What I did with "Barnyard", pretty much anyone can do.

"I'm In Great Shape" on the other hand, lol.. That took a long time to extract. It still has some phase issues, and I couldn't completely remove the piano, but it is significantly lower. I plan on revisiting it as I get better at this stuff. Anyway, it should hold people over until Bruiteur hits us with his next masterpiece.   Grin

In the meantime, I'm working on a mix of Child Is The Father Of The Man. I managed to extract the new vocals from the acetate - Which, btw, I can listen to on loop for days!

What is the song that you hear right at the beginning of I'm In Great Shape? The piano melody. I can't for the life of me place it. I know I'm going to feel like a gigantic dumbass once somebody says what it is. Ever have one of those brainfarts? Roll Eyes  Grin

Many thanks for sharing these tracks. I'm one of the many lacking knowledge of the arcane ways of creating new mixes - and bow down to those who can. It's funny how an off the cuff demo to a radio DJ has contributed so much to the on going life of SMiLE. I guess there's no way of retrieving the word 'agriculture' from the original... digital manipulation can only go so far...

I was excited to try to isolate that "agriculture". After the first line of the song, the piano gets louder, and the vocal gets softer, so it gets harder to do the seperation.

But you can tell, without a doubt, that he's saying "a---(?) country"

Can anyone decipher the word he sings before "country"?

Perhaps this has been suggested before, but I always wondered whether the line might originally have ended:

"...of the aggie culture"

I think it makes more sense ... being in the great shape of the aggie culture ... plus it has a nice second meaning of playing with marbles.
I also can imagine how it could be misremembered over time as "agriculture."
