Box Set delays in Australia?

A mate of mine that works at JB recently said the box set would arrive today or tomorrow (Thursday).... but I called a couple of places here in Perth today and they said the shipment has been delayed til next week (however, the 2cd set will be available on Friday). Not sure if it's just Perth or the whole of Australia. Anyone else heard anything?

As I've stated in another thread, I got confirmation that the SMiLE sessions are been delivered by the external supplier in the Sydney shops on Thursday 27th or Friday 28th. I've got my box set ordered thru Amazon because if you take into account the strong Aussie dollar, you come out about $25 in front of the $165 AUD price that JB Hi-Fi have it listed for. The 2 CD set for $29.99 AUD, including free shipping is what ordered through JB Hi-Fi online...I am so sweating on that arriving on my door this Friday or next Monday. I can wait a few weeks for the box set.

I asked at JB and they said it might be a week after the release date for the boxset. I had an order on Amazon as I didn't know it was being released locally which I cancelled. I'd rather walk in and grab it, also I was a bit worried about it getting damaged during shipping (unlikely but this is a BIG thing to get and want any drama). I think I may go in tomorrow and get the single or 2Cd set. I just WANT it.

It's SMiLE Day Downunder!!
I checked with JB last night at the Miranda store in southern Sydney they said they expected it to arrive early this morning (Friday), I fully expect to be grasping the 2CD set in my sticky fingers this afternoon ... almost takes me back to when I found the Vigotone 2CD set at Red Eye many years ago!! Less the serendipitous discovery that it was back then.
Enjoy your SMiLE Day!!

TonyW,
That is awesome news! I so want to ditch work...I can't of course. I'm going to pop in myself this afternoon or Saturday.

I rang JB Hi-fi at Miranda today (Friday 28th of October) at 1.30 pm. They had stock of the standard 1 CD edition in but not of the Limited edition 2 Cd or Limited edition 5 cd sets. They will most probably come in next week.

FREAKING AWESOME!!
Listening as I type, so much to groove on! So much is familiar, sneaky little new bits or something you haven't noticed before.
Bizarre feeling holding an official SMiLE is your hands, with a realisation you'll probably never have that SMiLE discovery rush again that you had when you got got your Vigitone, SOT or Archeology boots.
The store experience was a tad bizzare but very SMiLE, the sales person said he knew it was in but couldn't find it, it took 15 minutes to locate it including checking with the receiving guy in the warehouse who said he'd taken the stock through to the shop, we then searched boxes of new releases until we found 24 copies. I guess it just wouldn't be SMiLE if there wasn't a drama or hassle getting your hands on it.
I then couldn't help myself and had to ring The Professor (Lawrence Laverty) just to let him know I was holding the official SMiLE release after all these years. The Prof is catching up with Stephen McParland tonight so there should be plenty of SMiLE talk going on there.
With all the excitement of getting my hands on the CD I didn't even realise it was just the single CD until I got into the car and ripped the plastic cover off.
BUT I DON'T FREAKING CARE!!
I'VE GOT SMiLE!!

I'm pissed...very pissed. Australians continually get the butt-end deal of major international goods and services. I know cause I collect movies on DVD's and notice the American releases are often more stacked with extras. IN SMiLE's case, we are getting the same releases but if JB Hi-Fi hasn't got the multi-disc sets until next week, I'm betting no Australian retailer has. I've just got the following e-mail from JB Hi-Fi in relation to my 2 CD online order:

EMI Australia couldn't even get the Beatles' albums out on 09/09/09. The did okay with the P!nk Floyd box but they're back to their old tricks again with this SMiLE thingy. Thank you EMI Australia for ruining a day I'd planned for weeks.

The JB dude said nothing's going to be delivered on the weekend and to call back on Monday and that anyone that gives you a time that it's supposed to be in is being liberal with the truth.
The guy on the phone recognised my voice and he said 'but you'd already have everything'

Just to let everyone know that all throughout today 2CH are having a competition where you can win a copy of the Smile Sessions - I think I heard them say that it's just the 2CD edition but that would still be a nice gift for somebody.
