It's pretty common knowledge that during the 2nd Landy era, if he was a 'good boy' during the day his reward was a joint at night. As for now, if anyone knows, they know better than to say so in a public forum. I seriously doubt it.

Seems like a good reward for a hard days work Smiley i guess the question asked will get as much of an answer as the question does Brian still posses his full falsetto.

I'm sure Brian enjoys some alcohol occasionally. In fact, in "his" "autobiography" "he" mentions that he learned that it's okay to have a glass of wine sometimes. And at the TNT Tribute when he introduced Andy Paley (this wasn't on the DVD or the broadcast), he talked about how they wrote some songs together "and had some beers together."

And he said in a newspaper interview that he patched himself smoke-free in 1995...

Brian still has a fair falsetto. Not full (guy's in his 60s), and it can waver a bit, but it's there: mutual friend once bet him a steak dinner - a few years ago - he couldn't hit the high "domino" note in "Surf's Up". He lost.  Smiley

No way. Cannabis is a psychedelic drug, and can be more harmful to mentally weak people than any other drug.
Isn't he still on anti-psychotics? Would be weird if he'd enjoy a spliff.

Wave a steak under Brian's nose and he'd probably perform the entire works of Gilbert & Sullivan in character for you.

I think I recall reading an article in maybe Rolling Stone a few years back where Brian drove with a journalist in Beverly Hills. In the piece, it wqas mentioned the two of them having Heinekens at dinner. I could be mixing up articles though.

Not to sound like an idiot but what's spliff? I've never heard of it, and I've have my fair share of recreational "stuff" over the years....still enjoy a variety of "things" to this day.

Having hung around his band enough to get an idea of how things go in that camp, I'm going to say the answer is a resounding NO. Neil Young on the other hand.....  Cool Guy

Was Brian ever deemed an alcoholic? I know he drank his fair share, but if he was an actual alcoholic then conventional wisdom says he's not supposed to touch a drop. It sounds like he's allowed to, if he's monitored.

As for anything illegal, well...Maybe that's why they let him drink.

I love that story about the falsetto. AGD, you should compile a book of BW anecdotes.

He supposedly went to AA meetings when he was with Landy, but that might have been more for just healing in general and resocialization than anything. I don't think Brian was ever an alcoholic, but it was his "last resort" drug if he couldn't get coke, pot, etc.

BW anecdotes?? I'm not AGD, but here's one that was told to my wife and me by none other than Nelson Bragg; I've never known of anybody else to tell or hear this story. Nelson preceded the story with, "Only Brian Wilson can get away with this s**t." In 2003, Brian was in England getting an award (Ivor Novello, maybe???). At the reception, there were waiters dressed in black. Anyhoo, Bono -- who always dresses in black -- goes over to Brian, fawns over him like anybody else would..."Brian, it's a thrill to meet you! You've been such an inspiration to my music! etc. etc. etc." Brian's response: "Wow, thanks! Could you get me a Diet Coke?"

And the killer: BONO GOT HIM THE DIET COKE!!!

The question: did Brian really not recognize Bono and think he was another one of the waiters, or was he just seeing how far he could push someone and maybe give himself a laugh???

There's a whole thread with that stuff. Can't find it right now, but it definitely should be updated

I'd love to have a spliff with Brian.

But if he freaked out and had a panic attack or something it could make me paranoid.

I'll bet he can roll a good'un though. You never lose the knack.

Joking aside though, much as with alcoholics, once a pot-head, always a pot-head. Even if he doesn't smoke anymore, he still thinks about it I would bet.

At a meet-n-greet though once (the second SMiLE performance no less) I went in stinking of skunk (grass). Brian was doing his normal no eye contact, smile only when a photograph is taken sort of thing. I asked him why he did these meet-n-greets as he so obviously hated it, and he looked up at me with this look of intense sadness in his eyes and said nothing.

Should have said "Come on Brian, I've skinned up a fatty-bombatty, lets get outta here"

Also met P A U L  M c C A R T N E Y (spelled to fool censor) Felt my hand going out to shake his. He is a B E A T L E.

Should have said "Hey Paul, here to steal  the rest of SMiLE are ya?Huh?"

Regrets, I have a few..........
