To the powers that be!
At this time it seems plans are being made for some kind of project to celebrate the Beach Boys 50 years in the music business.
For reasons discussed on this site too many times to count, myself and those listed below consider Dave a original Beach Boy and would like him involved in a major roll in any live or new project in this, the bands 50th year.

I met David once and he was more than friendly. He is humble as a Beach Boy and BELONGS as a representitive of all things/ Beach Boys at this moment in time. Plus he plays a mean guitar.... Jon

I think he should be a part of the 50th.

That was my initial thought. Hopefully us adding our names here will merely vindicate the decision someone's already made to issue that invitation. In fact, as a fully paid-up member of the immediate Beach Boy family, David might be the one sending out the invites!

It would be wrong if hes not included. Of course... but maybe he's in the loop already ? He was back in 2006 for the SOS ceremony.

Of course AGD you have always had inside infomation we don't so your post implies to me that your sources say he will be part of a reunion. Great!
Can we then request it is more than a guest segment or a East Coast gig one off?

As a non muso would I be correct in saying Dave is the best surviving musician of the group, and....going out on a limb here, the best the group had? (aside from Blondie and Ricky) If so, whats a band without their best musician? He needs in this year!

I'd love to see/hear Dave play those cool surf-guitar solos in the songs. From what little I have heard via youtube, he has a real cool and authentic sound.

He doesn't present as such, But I believe he is. David is undoubtedly the best Guitarist. Which brings us back to the recent meeting. Sounds like it was Mike, Bruce, Elliot and David. Would have been nice if Brian had been there.

Last I heard Dave doesn't know any more about anything 50th related than I do...which is nothing. I'll have an excuse to talk to him this weekend and I'll get an update, but as of a week or two ago...nothing. I suspect there is at least some kind of plan being kicked around by Mike's people and Brian's people, and I seriously doubt if the others have any involvement or leverage in said discussion, although i guarantee Al will put his two cents in whether wanted or not. And yes, David should be involved in a 50th celebration that includes any reference to the surf and hot-rod period, the rise to fame...and/or to the genesis of the Beach Boys sound. It would be a glaring omission to leave any of the five survivors out, and for that matter Blondie and Ricky should get a nod as well.

@Jon Is Al's two cents not worth the same amount as Brian and Mike's? It seems like an odd remark to make considering he is a voting member.
