I'm confused - are you saying all the above shots were therefore taken during Pet Sounds, not Smile?

I'm saying the shots of Brian in the parking lot and the studio have him wearing the exact same clothes and hairstyle he had in a photo taken with Tony Asher - who wasn't around in summer 1966, much less December. I'd have to say that I now seriously doubt the two shots we've been worrying like a bone were taken after the Pet Sounds sessions. Research is a bitch like that sometimes.

Yea Yea. Zany. As in: beer addicts, and watching the Sommermärchen of the Frauenfußball in Public Viewing spots all day long. I know what Germans are like.

Look like you're quite an expert with Umlauts and extra character "ß" and the Public Viewing thing. Do you live here? Replace "beer addicts" with "beer gardens" and I'm 100% with you!  angel

LOL I wrote 'addicts' specifically to draw a reply from you. It worked! I am Dutch but was raised with German TV (due to my Dad's preferences). So I know John Wayne's voice only in German: 'Zieh' Deine Knarre Und Schieß', Du Hurensohn!'
German Beer Gardens are great... and I'll do a weekend of Berlin later this year.

No, in all seriousness, my emnity is with Hitler and the Nazis and has never been with the German people, most of whom didn't know what was going on until it was too late. And this is also the nation that produced the greatest composers who ever lived (sorry Blooboarders)

And of course Hitler was Austrian, but so was Mozart, so they cancel each other out. Then the Von-Trapps sort of tip the scales onto the side of goodness, so it's thumbs up for Austria too

Of course, this is not the place to discuss this, but actually most Germans did know what was going on. The reason for "not knowing" was a mixture of disbelief, enjoying the improvement of life quality during the Nazi age at the Jews' expense, and sheer fright what might happen to them if they didn't go along.

The fact that Hitler was born Austrian is absolutely irrelevant, as Austria had been or was regarded as a part of Germany from the middle ages to 1866/1871, and would have become again in 1919 had it not been for the French who didn't allow it then. Anyway, it's no excuse for the Germans to have followed him.

Strictly speaking, Mozart surprisingly was not Austrian: His father was Bavarian, and he was born in Salzburg, which at the time was not part of Austria yet. But that's splitting hairs, of course, and the Austrians may very well be proud of him.

Oh yes, in soccer we're not that inimical any more. Remeber when Rijkaard spit Völler in the face? I think in the years '88-'92 it was at its worst. Bu IMHO, between 1974 and 1988 there wasn't really some feud going on. Most of that time the Germans were a lot better, and only in 1988 Holland managed to get onto the same level, and beat them in the EC. Now, that was an evening...

I think now is an opportune moment to discuss the song Ganz Allein and its impact on German awareness of NAZI atrocities.

Take it with a grain of salt, but a few of the European retailers that had previously listed August release dates are now showing October 3...

Quote from: AGD
Good... logical... if the European release is a week after the US street date.  Grin

Won, won-won-wonderful -- Andrew, you've finally given us some hard news! September 27th it is!! Thank you sir!!!  Grin

Note I said "if"...  Roll Eyes

Don't roll your eyes at ME, mister! Brow Your "if" referred to the October 3rd date, implying that the "known" date was the US date -- which you put at one week before the speculated European date -- thereby confirming September 27th! So there!  Wink

That was my reading of it to … ah, where would we be without ambiguity.

And now David wades in with a solid fact. But what about the UK/European date David?  I'm still hanging out for Sept 26!

I was told that it had been moved to October 4, 2011. I don't have any more information than that. That doesn't mean that it is coming out on Oct. 4…  Grin

You gotta love it when Dave weighs in with what would seem to be solid information, then a scant two hours later is already backpedaling to distance himself from his own post!!
And then tries to move away from it all and into "let's listen to some BBs music"!!
Strange days

It is important to not mislead people. You consider it "strange" that I think we should listen to Beach Boys music, or that I would suggest it to a group of people who post on a BB-related board?

Not sure about soccer, but World War II is most certainly on topic.

No World War II, no crushed economy in Europe from which the US emerges as an economical giant, thus leading to the post war boom years and the baby boomer generation which led to the rise of the teenager in the 50's and the importance of youth culture in the 60's of which SMiLE is very much a part.

And of course my Hitler paste-over was a post-post-modern, ironic statement on the fact that Hitler was responsible for the Beach Boys, and by association their fall from grace in the late 1960's. Damn you Adolph

I'll welcome any debate on this subject, come on guys, we're nearly at 100 pages!

Just supposed to be a joke Bgas, but I get the impression you don't have much of a sense of humour

I also get the impression you don't like me for some reason or another, as I'm often getting these bitchy little comments from you

If you want to tell me what the problem is , other than you don't like (understand) my sense of humour, then I'll be happy to address any issue you have.

If I'm honest, I find your posts rather dull, but I just ignore them and would never dream of attacking you out of nowhere. So here's my suggestion. You ignore my posts and I'll continue ignoring yours. Otherwise you'll just become a whining little troll, and I'm sure you don't want to be seen in that light

Respectfully, IHA

I've also got no problem with anyone disagreeing with me, but Bgas seems to have taken a dislike to me.

I don't think it is personal. I think some people have a real confidence problem in real life and being an ass on a message board fills the void.

I too have noticed an increase in the ridiculously trivial sarcastic comments over the last few weeks....making this place quite an unenjoyable place to visit.
