Well, it's clear that we fans have alot of wishes and that the officials like Capitol often do disappoint. So, what if they, meaning the BBs (Bros. rec.) and all of them finally open BeachBoysCentral and let us fans make a poll about what we would like to be released. And they are gonna look at what is possible. That way they knew that there are alot of people who'd buy the rarities and maybe that would open more doors, hopefully the plan that Alan Boyd had from beginning for BeachBoysCentral.
BTW I think this board should be linked with BeachBoysCentral.com and become kinda the official one. That probably would also pay the hosting costs (Bros. records would take them over I guess)
I know, all just simple and not very possible, but I thought I'd let it out.....

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

The very appeal of this board is that it's a forum for OBJECTIVE discussion, warts and all, where tempers and arguments can (and often do) flare up but usually resolve themselves. A "Beach Boys-sanctioned" message board makes me think blueboard, and that's not a pretty thought. Let's keep this forum as is...I think the results speak for themselves.

This forum of course would keep as it is in my imagination. Since so many insiders already are here, I figured it wouldn't be so hard. But yeah, you're probably right

I honestly would like more than anything a single disc rarities release. Just get the top 15-20 cuts and get them out there. I would say the priority should go Unheard Tracks/demos>Proper Mixes of Bootleged Tracks>New mixes of old tracks (Wild Honey in Stereo to start with)>Backing Tracks/Vocal Tracks>Session Highlights.

And so the unrest starts....
What part of Smile was 'Wild Honey" ?

The hell are you on about, bgas?
Record labels are savvy to the fact that we hardcore will buy anything they throw out at us. Dylanites are the forerunners of that, happily buying material they own as bootlegs - Basement tapes, bootleg series, what have you.
BBCentral is flawed because we have a band so opposed to releasing 'unfinished' material, unlike Dylan, and the fact that this self same hardcore oppose downloads in favour of cd releases which are costly to the label. Obviously.
Another 'Hawthorne, CA' is only justifiable if they release another surf n turf compliation to soak up the inevitable loss, I think.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

Unless, of course, we've
finally
entered the time when Mike Love & company will accept that
The Wilson's
, and yes, even
his
Wilson blood, are the main reason that he is still touring, and that we are still here! There is no denying that none of this music would have happened without BRIAN, and I truly believe that they are only going to get him - (ok,
his people
) - on board if they treat him with that type of rarified respect that the man,
and
his
current sidemen, truly deserve, and at the same time acknowledge the significance of the loss of Carl & Dennis.
I mean face it, this current touring act
"The Beach Boys"
obviously puts on a damn fine show; but then so, too, do
Lynyrd skynyrd, The Allman Brothers,
I mean, I could go on & on, but you get the idea... So yes, it's obvious that the band name can be franchised and still draw tons of people to county fairs, and boatloads of cash from corporate events, and each franchise could maybe even feature one or another Son-of-a-Beach Boy... However, if this fiftieth anniversary were to come off with any true significance, (and, as one of my attorneys pointed out to me, The Beatles, Stones, JFK's assassination & tons of other things all occur
after
the birth of The Beach Boys, and people will tire of even hearing 50th. anniversary after awhile), well then they
have
to become the personalities that they never were once "A Hard Days Night" came out!
Everyone
knew John, Paul, George & Ringo, but the only Beach Boy anyone ever
really
knew was Dennis Wilson! (And God bless Brian, but the screams for Dennis were one of the factors that drove him from the stage, way back when). These days, my understanding is that they almost choke on stage if mentioning Dennis, but who is the one that's about to have a feature film made about him? So, get it together, get the right P.R. people assembled, get the
right
creative team behind documentaries, clips on E.T, Extra, and all that crap, and stop trying to cover up the warts! Of course, that's just
my
opinion...

Thanks so much to both of you for appreciating my sentiment. Funny thing was, my wife & I were trying to get it together to leave for Alan Boyd's birthday party, but I was periodically checking the feed from the Reagan library. If you notice the time, I posted that about a half hour before they took the stage; (needless to say, we were late arrivals to the party). I haven't actually ever seen the group live without a Wilson on stage; don't
think
I even saw them with just Carl. I made two attempts many years ago, and both times had major fiasco's with cars. (The last time Elliott Lott had half-a-dozen second row seats waiting for me in Costa Mesa. My 'crew' spent showtime on a freeway shoulder; how do you explain something like that?) I figured the god's were trying to tell me something, so after Carl's passing, I just stopped trying.
Understand, my association started as a fan, the first time I heard 409. By the time I bought the single, Shut Down had come out, and I bought that, too. Even before I heard Little Deuce Coupe, I couldn't understand
why
they were called The Beach Boys... Then summertime rolled around in New York, and my best friend didn't believe I hadn't listened to the flipsides! (Granted, I was about 12 or 13, and was using those car songs as a constant soundtrack while building AMT car models & dreaming of barreling out of New York & heading west. One of life's great ironies is that when it happened, it was on invitation of Dennis Wilson to stay in his guest house!)
Well, I'm still first and foremost a fan, still awaiting this
SmiLe
box arrival as anxiously as most everyone else, and showed up late at a great party so I could catch Al's big moment live, when I knew I'd be able to re-watch it within minutes. And, while I was waiting, a burst of spontaneous emotion resulted in that post. Catching the performance only increased the feelings I expressed here.

YEAH! Just release Battle Hymn of the Republic as the first downloadable single and be done with it!
That'll keep 'em guessing.

So I have a question Ed, do you have any unreleased recordings?
as a big fan, you have to have at least a recording for Smile (besides released stuff) and Adult Child
