in 1970 and 1971, late at night, on am radio i could pick up wowo radio from there. they played the heck out of beach boys material back then. also could pick up wls and wcfl from chicago and they would do the same. especially songs from surf's up lp when it was released. loved those late night adventures....  Smiley
lived in ashland, ky at that time.

Ah, yes.  And I was in the National Guard stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky during March and April of 71.  I first heard Wouldn't It Be Nice from the Big Sur Folk Festival Octover 1970 when the local Fort Knox station, WSAC, played the heck out of that song from the Celebration Album, released in April 71.  It was so good to hear a progressive FM station paying attention to The Beach Boys.  And, as Steve says, at night you could hear the mainstream AM stations, such as WLS, WCFL, and "eleven nine oh, double you oh, double you oh (WOWO from Fort Wayne, Indiana), playing the Beach Boys.
