They know I'm rock 'n' roll through and through.

Hi Ovi. I really didn't think you'd see it -- what a coincidence. Very cool!

What music am I into? Well, in the past few years I've been exploring pop/rock from former Yugoslavia…

…and from the former Soviet Union:

https://endlessharmony.boards.net/thread/1937/dawn-alyans-1980s-soviet-synthpop

I've also been exploring Sovietwave (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLxj6TbbtDk) and Vaporwave (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaQS379Idss), along with much Baroque music. Plenty to explore then!

As for rap, I still like MF Doom's stuff but Kendrick L is simply too heavy for me! And you? Have you found anything interesting recently?

Take care!

JK

Very cool, I will check all of these out.

I've been obsessed with the Everly Brothers this year. Seems like a natural progression from The Beach Boys, but I hadn't dug deeper into their stuff before. Incredible music, Heaven on Earth, two voices becoming one.

Other artists that have made a big impression on me in these past years: Big Star, Bjork, Van Morrison, The Monkees, Gene Vincent, X-Ray Spex (easily as good as anything punk), Steely Dan (only heard the first album so far but man, what brilliant song-writing and instrumental precision).

Thanks for that, Ovi. Yes, the Everlys are special. My first taste of their music was this other-worldly 45 fading in and out on Radio Luxembourg one night in ’61. It scared the life out of me! It’s still my favourite of theirs:

Of the artists you mention, I know and love Björk’s Debut and Utopia. The great Gene Vincent cut some fantastic classic rock and roll tracks with guitarist Cliff Gallup (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Gallup):

I was lucky enough to see Steely Dan play in Lucca (of all places) in 2007. My favourite albums of theirs are Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam, the much later Two Against Nature and (at the top of the list) Gaucho:

Most recently (I seem to be back in some capacity) I've become one degree down from obsessed with the music of Nick Beggs. This tutorial may explain why:

This is for my rapmeister Ovi on his birthday. Still digging Mos Def’s Doom Tribute -- many thanks for that!

I know he's a big fan of ’Trane's "My Favourite Things". Felicitări, prietene!
