Not been around awhile but would love to read her thoughts on the last year?

Managed to catch Dave playing live myself for the first time in Melbourne and he was a hit for many others during the tour. Hope all is well and you are both enjoying some downtime.

I agree, but I don't want to pressure any contributor to weigh in if they are keeping their own counsel, but if I can take this thread as a DM appreciation thread, just look at the words of one (particularly eloquent) reviewer on Amazon (whose evaluation is not unique):

"Added note: if you are a fan of David Marks you have to be very happy: I watch the DVD over and over just to study his riffs, some of which are historical (the parts he and/or Carl played) and some of which are invented anew. For many who embrace archetypal narratives of redemption, David Marks IS the reunion. Imagine that kindly boy from "across the street" who left the band at 15, now, in his 60's playing again with the BB, drawing fans to their feet with gasps of awe. Yes, I want a 60 song DVD, and I want to see David himself leading the BB orchestra in a majestic version of Pet Sounds, but I will wait for those and cherish this DVD (the price of 2 venti pumpkin spice lattes?) for now."

If you are DM or CM or a DM fan you have to be pleased with David's triumphal return to the BB.  The professor can only hope that any and all future projects will feature DM and that when the band gets together for more shows and an new album that he will continue to play this honored and featured role. The boxed set? it's supposed to have Stowaway on it. So we fans will celebrate every manifestation of Dave's art keenly and loyally. Here's thanks to DM for making the reunion what it was: a grand and meaningful success artistically, spiritually, and emotionally.

For sure! He put the capital B in 'Band' this year. While Brian, Al and Bruce had their keyboards/ guitar mixed low, Dave gave the principles credibility with those incredible riffs which were sooo fitting for the song. Putting the songs aside that he played on in the sixties, the two I remember were 'Sail On Sailor' and funny enough...'Barbara Ann'!

I also admire the way he carried himself in every interview I watched.

Priceless! It was an honor to witness first hand such an important milestone in music history; I made new friends and became closer to those I'd already known; I got to see my husband shine in a way I'd only seen glimpses of before, which was exciting and filled me with pride and a certain sense of justice; and I got to see the world with my 17 year old son and have an adventure we will both always remember...what a gift to be given such quality time together at that stage of his life. I am also very grateful for all the support from you guys...it was amazing how so many people had such positive things to say about David's contribution to the tour and we both really appreciate the love. Thank you!

I'm glad to hear it was such a win for you and your family.  David was an integral part of the whole and his spotlight performance during "Pet Sounds" was an unexpected delight.  And, yes, here's to justice!

Carrie -- it was an absolute delight to meet you and David at the pre-show drinks thing in Sydney!  (Doubt either of you will remember me, but I'm the American guy who asked David which guitar parts were his on "Radio".)  And let me second what Pretty Funky said -- hearing David bringing "Pet Sounds" to life really cemented to me how crucial he is to making this latest Beach Boys as good as it is (and hopefully will continue to be in the future)...

Cheers,

As Oscar Wilde said, to take the pleasure of quoting myself, David Marks IS the reunion.  The professor, in all his literary incarnations and critical manifestations and personae will continue to compose dithyrambs in his honor. I am confident that the Beach Boys will reunite again for another album and that David will play a prominent part in its composition and performance.  The Beach Boys music and the Beach Boys reunion continue to animate the landscape in Los Angeles.  Whenever I drive over the 105 freeway, over their old homes, I can feel their immortal spirit. I am very satisfied that our words here as fans of the band have reached David and Carrie. Thank you David a  thousand times for each and every sublime note.

David was the bomb at Wembley, make sure he gets all our love. King of the Surf Guitar, indeed...  Smiley

It would be great to see Dave's book re-released with additional chapters on the reunion and tour.  It was great to see him playing with the band again.

I mentioned this on a thread a few months back to Jon Stebbins who said it would be great but he was committed workwise for some time. My suggestion was that 'a certain poster here' could write a new chapter. The person I had in mind was Carrie. Wink

It was great to see David up on stage with the boys! One of the best things about the reunion was seeing him getting his due with the band and playing some great guitar licks!
