Don't know how many of you have checked this out. I had barely ever listened to this song, but a couple of observations:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ThPN8ZY4I
1. It is one of the most viewed BB videos on youtube with over 2 million hits. I'm really not sure why.
2. Carl does a nice vocal turn, Al is not bad.
3. The video appears to feature John Phillips as the minister/priest, Roger McGuinn on guitar, and Michelle Phillips momentarily (?)
4. Most of all, Brian looks fantastic! He even lip syncs in the video a little but I don't hear him on the recording.

1. Wouldn't it be nice 9 milion, Get around 7 milion, Surfin usa 5 milion
But i guess its a popular song, and one of the few Beach Boys songs with a proper video that actually ran when it was released...
2. Carl is great, Al good as always. The songs fits their voices and the turn taking is fantastic
3. Yes.
4. No. This must be the best example on how twisted our view of Brian is!! He looks terrible, like on old drug addict (oh, I forgot, he is...) He even lipsynchs!!!

Excuse me ? Brian's 1000-mile stare at the end of the final line-up would scare the holy crap out of most kids.
That said, it's probably the best overall BB video performance there is.

I guess I should have said, Brian looks physically healthy, trim, etc., compared to his terrible appearance just a few years before. It's just so amazing to me that he participated in the video at all, especially when he wasn't on the recording and I can't imagine the project appealed to him much.

Ya know, the performance is, I guess, what I got from it. I enjoyed watching it, and I thank you, BDN, for posting it here

Al has more hair now than he did in the 70s....
In the pages of the Wouldn't It Be Nice book, there is a picture of Brian from the video shoot looking really uncomfortable with John Philips' arm around him.
With the ghostly images in the video, does anyone think it would have been a nice touch to have included Dennis?

Elton John has that same mystery to his image

I thought the same thing about Dennis. Mike probably vetoed the idea.

Yeah. I think Silvio Berlusconi and Al Jardine are one and the same person. Sort of a Jekyll/Hyde situation, if you ask me.

Mike sees enough ghosts in his usual day to day life, the last thing he would want would be to have them popping up in his promo videos.

As Al adjusts his coat - shaking it, drawing it closely around around his body, and fiddling with the buttons - I am overcome by the feeling that is a deep man with important things to say.

I am not a big fan of cover songs over all. But I admit, that this one is well done. Not too cheesey of a video either. Nice to see a video of them in the 80s where they are not in tank tops and bathing suits, or a Hawaiian tshirt and khaki pants on the beach.
