Without wishing to be harsh on someone who is probably a nice guy, is he even more out of touch with perspective than one would expect of a man of nearly 70? He seems to be an old guy in a bubble.

Mike and Bruce, for all their faults, seem to be far more grounded in the real world, by comparison.

Same ol' weird Jon Harrison statement.  Don't mind him - the guy's mental himself.  Been that way for years.  Serious.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Al's Mental World.  Opening 2012.
And remember - it's not Al's Mental World without YOU.

Al is really a very nice decent guy. Way back when he was with Friends and Family, he invited me to ride in his limo from the hotel to the venue. Once at the venue he got me back stage passes. I ran into him several times that weekend, and each time he took a few minutes to chat with me. He was more than nice!!

Yep.  Talked with Al for quite awhile when he was at the Record Day event in Berkeley last year. He was more than gracious on that day - told stories,  sang a few songs for the small crowd, shook hands and signed autographs.

Also saw Al play a concert near his house in Big Sur previous to that and he sang great and was completely sane.

I'm sure more than a few of us on here have Al on Facebook, how many other people in a band as big as The Beach Boys will have a personal Facebook profile which they accept members of the public on?, that in it's self speaks volumes to me about what kind of a person he is.

I have had the fortune to meet Al on numerous occasions over the years.  In the early days I was more interested in meeting Carl and Brian for obvious reasons.  Over the years, however, I began to seek out Al backstage (and Carl, as well) simply because he was always friendly and willing to talk.  This was particularly true once he found out how devoted a fan one was. The more you knew about the band and its history (for instance, a  mention of loop de loop or Susie Cincinnati) always goes a looong  way with Al. He takes time for the "real" fans, which is not always the case

I wonder if the title of the thread is an error, and it's meant to tread "AL's DENTAL world"?  Even that's a long-shot.

I sat behind Al at a Bob Dylan concert in Monterey 2 years ago. He didn"t like his seat and went to an usher and got a different seat.  Angry

Too bad, he'd be the perfect guy to sit behind at any event, for obvious reasons

I like Al, even if he does have that bizarre notion that all the remaining band members seem to have in that he thinks because he was/is in a band containing the word 'beach' he has to go around wearing a godawful brightly coloured flowery shirt the whole time.

What's everyone's favourite 'Al moment'? Mine is the bit at 1.24 in the That Same Song video (with the gospel choir) when he smiles to the camera. He strangely reminds me of my Uncle Geoff at this point (despite looking nothing like him). The fact that he's stood next to Mike Love in a turban only makes him seem even more likeable in comparison...

My personal favorite Al moment, is when on that one Live CD, he sings "You Still Believe In Me" better than Brian sang it on the original record.

That's pretty fucking hard to do.

My WORST Al moment however must be in the European footage on the Endless Harmony CD when he's being embaressingly pompous next to a cannon.

I mean Endless Harmony DVD, the documentary. Watch it and see. Mike and Bruce fool around, Dennis and Carl act laid-back and cool, Al acts embaressingly pompous next to a cannon.

Older people seem to love Hawaiian print shirts. It's life, man. Get used to it. Someday you'll be at an age where you put one on and go "damn this feels good."

Best Al Jardine moment - in the It's Ok NBC special where he is waxing lyrical about how one must be rugged and hardcore to live in an opulent country house with your beautiful wife and all the platform shoes you could want the wild and untamed mountain country, before the director cuts to a goat harassing him.  LOL

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591
