Got to admit, when you mentioned going on tour with ‘Weird Al’ I had to re-read it for the correct context. Got it now. I doubt the sums work for a Al (Jardine) tour with Brian’s band tbh, and ever would. Al’s found a sweet little niche for himself with his trio. Something different with a ‘Story Teller’ twist that works. I don’t think it is an insult to call it a hobby band. It is and at a minimal cost. Does he really need the stress of a bigger business/ high risk outfit at 82? Definitely not.

I just watched a recent Mike/BBs show, and Mike's sounding *very rough* himself. Al's kind of all that's left.
I picked that up watching the Greek show on YT this week. Mike was often rusty on one off shows or at the start of the summer, but for an end of a summer tour I was quite shocked. If that is the quality going forward I hope those around him have a talk about retiring.

Al going on tour with Brian's band would be lovely. I fondly remember the NYC Beacon Theater they all did in 2019, with e.g. deep cuts from Friends and Surf's Up sprinkled among the hits. He seems to be describing something similar here (Roller Skating Child, lol!). Really hope it can happen!
The question is whether anyone in Brian's band knows. What disappoints me is Al and Mike previously have said Brian could still contribute in some way. Nice thought perhaps but from what we have seen of late, please let him be.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / The Beach Boys "Brother Records" Bronze Sculpture from the Santa Monica Office.

Oh yeah…👍 https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/music-memorabilia/memorabilia/the-beach-boys-brother-records-bronze-sculpture-from-the-santa-monica-office/a/7377-26006.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515#The Beach Boys "Brother Records" Bronze Sculpture from the Santa Monica Office. Founded in 1966, by Mike Love, Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson. Brothers Records came about due to Capitol Records perceived lack of support. They wanted more creative control so they started their own record company. The company logo was chosen based on a life size bronze statue by Cyrus E. Dallin's in 1908. Carl Wilson was asked in 1975 why the group used this as their logo, he said "The Indian was chosen because the Wilson brothers' grandfather believed there was a spiritual Indian guide who watched over them from the other side." "Appeal to the great spirit". Mike Love was also quoted "Their is no one more American than the American Indian." This piece measures approx: 20" tall with a base measuring 8" by 16". The Indian hands are approx: 11.5" apart. Weighing in at approx: 47 pounds. This rare example was on display in the entrance to the Brothers Records' Santa Monica office. In overall Very Good Plus to Near Mint Minus condition. We cannot stress enough what a sterling example this has become. It will be a wonderful and displayable addition to the collection. COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Gregg Oehlke Music Archive.

The documentary is a ‘tasting plate’ for the viewer. Those that want to delve further into the group can now do so. Why anybody expected anything else with a 1.53 play time is beyond me. If it was made and promoted with 6 episodes over 12 hours (which this group could easily fill), then everything could have been covered. The market however would have been negligible.

We’ll just watched it here in NZ. 7pm drop time so very lucky. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised. Finally a documentary that chronologically explains the Al, David, Al, Glen, Bruce coming and goings with correct video and pictures. While I hope we will eventually see more Paradise Cove footage. What you get is perfect for THIS project. Between Mike talking about Brian, then cutting to Paradise Cove….Have a tissue ready. 🥲

It’s the 2024 version of Mike saying for years “Never say never.”
I am very disappointed that posters on other sites are talking up a possibility of new material and any kind of ‘Live’ event with Brian. The recent conservatorship ruling saying he is free to continue with music projects is one thing. Whether he is able to go to a studio and work with anyone who may put him under any duress has, under my understanding, been taken out of his hands. (thank goodness). Melinda acted as his backstop in the past and now others will do the same.
Enjoy the clips of the Paradise Cove reunion. Maybe this IMAX thing might be a group Q&A from his house, but please…no more. Leave him be. Enough is enough.

In the new beach reunion, it almost looks like the guys are toasting with glasses of water. Guess no one ever told them that was bad luck!
Drinking is illegal on the beach. What a way to finish the documentary. A repeat of the ‘Failure To Surf’ Brian arrest…but with all 5 of them. 😉
