Of course, really none of it is any of our business.

I agree, one hundred percent.

"Citation needed." Wikipedia can be a good starting point for research or a summary on a topic; but I don't trust it completely in this particular instance, because I am inclined to believe Marilyn's account, but not Pamplin's. (Yes, I've read his book.)

But the way I heard the story many years ago, it was at least supposed to take place after Marilyn and Brian separated, if not legally divorced.

Rocky claims a fling with Marilyn, but Marilyn says not true. In any case, the timing of the alleged fling was post-divorce.

A touching interview with Al Jardine about Brian on BBC4's Today show:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0lht2ng

It runs about 5 minutes, and will only be up for a few days.

Part of what Al said about Brian:
Quote
He was very, very open, honest and friendly, and always supportive of his team -- meaning the early Beach Boys and his own band, the Brian Wilson Band, which I joined later in life. We became his second family.

So, it's been wonderful. And now I have the opportunity, with his blessing, to take the band out again this year and next year, and had hoped that Brian would still be with us, so that he could tour again. But we will keep the music alive in his name and the spirit alive.

Still in shock. Thank you for all the music, Brian.

I grew up in Memphis, so I remember some of this. Wink Martindale hosted Dance Party, a local take on American Bandstand in the '50s, but left for LA in the early '60s. He was also a deejay at WHBQ, the local Top 40 station which also had George Klein of Elvis' Memphis Mafia on the staff.

I was afraid it was something like that. Sad to hear. I pray that both David and Carrie can find positive ways to go forward in tough times.

Yes, I'm getting "can't connect" messages all the time, more than I am getting through. Can someone look into this issue, please?

Hey, Funko -- how about a Pop! Bruce Johnston figure to go with the rest of the set, please?? Just because Bruce was only on the back cover of PS, he still deserves to be part of the set. At least release it as a standalone add-on figure.

Oooh -- something to display next to my Brian Wilson Pet Sounds doll!

I think the Wilson's Dutch ancestry was discussed in The Nearest Faraway Place book (been a while since I read it).

Larry Dvoskin has to be the one behind this campaign for a Grammy nomination, because he did the same thing for one of his multiple versions of "Waves of Love."
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Al Jardine Track - \ on: August 23, 2024, 02:05:55 AM
Haven't heard the track yet, but it's my belief that Dvoskin is the guy in that partnership with Al who can't stop reworking "Waves of Love."

Are NFTs still a thing? I thought that fad was in the past..

17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: There's a new 'Vega-Tables' video on YouTube right now on: June 19, 2024, 04:11:36 AM
Very nice work, SB! Did you draw the veggie cartoons? And a question about the ending -- where's Bruce?

I agree about the "Vege-Tables" outro -- that is one incredible, tour-de-force of vocals! In fact, the outro has become a frequent earworm for me. I love the whole song, in all its many wacky, quirky versions.
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Music Coming From Al??? on: June 08, 2024, 07:21:56 PM
New version of Waves of Love please...

Don't give Larry Dvoskin any ideas, please.

Ebay is probably your best bet.

That Telegraph story could benefit from fact-checking. 1969?
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Documentary! on: May 28, 2024, 06:52:36 PM
It's still quite possible that Disney requested that "Kokomo" be included in the doc.
23  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Documentary! on: May 24, 2024, 09:57:19 PM
Could have done without Kokomo over the credits too

"Kokomo" is linked with the film Cocktail, which was released by Disney's Buena Vista / Touchstone pictures. No way Disney's not going to include it in the doc. The credits are the perfect place.

My question is what's the deal with ADITLOAT being played over the Paradise Cove footage?
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Documentary! on: May 18, 2024, 01:38:22 AM
You can get alcoholic drinks at the Paradise Cove restaurant, which is where they're sitting (outside dining area)..

That's the May 25th show.
