Title: Brian + John/Paul phone conversation, 1964.
Post by: EgoHanger1966 on October 24, 2012, 12:27:24 PM
Posted on Brian's FB. Has this circulated?

http://soundcloud.com/designsite/brian-wilson-and-john-lennon

Sounds possibly scripted or even edits of solo Brian and John/Paul recorded snippets? Anyway, cool nonetheless

This was old news five years ago.

I'm sorry - I know I'm not .000001 % as knowledgeable as you regarding anything involving the Beach Boys. I wasn't trying to be a total idiot and ask something totally asinine, though. I hope you'll forgive me.  ::)

Doing some research it looks like it comes from this KFWB promo, as discussed here. I've never heard it because apparently I'm a noob. Is this the correct source?

EgoHanger1966,

How dare you not know that this topic was discussed FIVE YEARS AGO. You should've known better. What's the matter with you? And, oh, it doesn't matter if you were even a Beach Boys' fan FIVE YEARS AGO. And, I'll dare you bring up a subject that, even if some people already know the answer, could prompt some interesting discussion. See, some people think they're above discussing things, instead of shutting the fu-- up. Assholes....

So I guess the lesson learned here is that you need to be aware of everything that has been discussed here since the beginning of this board's inception before posting?

Radio does not suck now.  Check out Sirius XM radio.  It's fantastic.

No but a simple search and some observation should suffice.

I don't think it's so bad to ask in light of the fact it was recently posted on BW's Facebook page. To some, it may be new. And using search isn't that easy because most people would type in wilson beatles or wilson mccartney lennon, and there have been all kinds of posts about different things using those search terms. I say give the person the benefit of the doubt. Along with the warning that Brian's "people" are posting a lot of old stuff in the guise of new stuff because they don't really have new stuff and a lot of the old stuff was deleted off Brian's webpage due to the site re-design so they have to present the old stuff as new stuff. If that makes sense.

Disagree.  No commercials.  Among others, try channels like "Deep Tracks" especially in the afternoon with Jim Ladd, who's a big Beach Boys/Brian fan.

No commercials, just incessant rambling from the DJs on some stations, sometimes for ten minute blocks. All the repetition of standard radio, but with a much narrower focus on eras or sounds, making for even more repetition.

Just me, though. I had to put up with it often for a few months this year and was not a fan overall. I found myself doing nothing but looking for something to listen to for about 3/4s of the trips I took, most of the time.

My parents swear by Sirius XM.  It's not bad.  But you have to pay a monthly fee for it.  And that most definitely sucks.

Respectively, mostly up to 1965... and as far as I'm aware, never. Shame. That would have been epic.

Heh. I really didn't mean for all of this. Anyway, I'm not a moron and not incapable of using the search function - and before I posted, I did try. Also, I'm not here posting new threads every day about common knowledge - cut me just a liiiiiitle bit of slack!

Like one other poster, I couldn't find concrete evidence that this recording was the same thing as what Brian posted on FB. Of course, after I post the thread and get scolded by the expert, the third or fourth phrase match got me the KFWB thread.

I still think it's interesting in light of "Brian's" recent Facebook post, and the fact that I haven't seen it discussed here in my 1000+ posts time, means maybe it's worth an updated look?

Love and Mercy.

Sorry to hear you're so lazy, Buddhahate.  The clip has been on YouTube for years (2007). If you paruse the Beach Boys section of YouTube long enough you're more than likely going to run into it. I remember it being on the internet long before 2007 and circulating among collectors many years before that. So it ain't new.  The tape is interesting, though. It sounds scripted or the DJ told them what to say, but who knows for sure. Wonder if Brian remembers it. He says he never met Lennon. But he did - if not at a party in 1974 with May Pang, but at another one in Malubu with Mickey Dolenz in attendance.

Way too much self importance among some of you.
Hang on to your ego(hanger), and post whatever the heck you want.  Start a topic and discuss it with others who are amenable to discussing it.  Everyone else can just ignore the thread  if it so offends the scholarly sticks they've got shoved up their backsides.    How many times have various Smile related topics been regurgitated?  Or any number of other "previously discussed" things?   Maybe new people don't know all there is to know, and maybe they'd rather have the enjoyment of discovering these things through discussion with others as opposed to doing a search and reading old comments - and if they then added a comment to those old threads they'd then be attacked for reviving said old thread.
Why not discuss Brian's '64 radio conversation with the Beatles?  It's not like there's a wealth of incredible new topics being discussed here.
To new fans:  discuss anything you want and ignore the a**holes.
To the puffed up scholars:  Good for you.  Your information is appreciated and respected, but don't be Mike Love about it.

No, I don't post a lot, but I've been an interested reader of this board for awhile.
I don't mind someone creating a topic that's been covered before - it happens all the time.  I don't mind people creating topics that might be silly, or dumb either.  If I don't like it - I don't read/follow it.    I see too many posters who get jumped on by the "we're the real fans" clique that goes on here.   And then these same people turn around and act all offended by "a**hole"?   Well, know what?  Too bad.  ban me then.  I'll always speak up against jerks.

Actually, 4319 posts is an awful lot of posts on this board! Kinda indicates that you have nothing else to do with your life other than sit on your thin-skinned ass all day and all night posting whiny messages about peoples' comments that aren't to your liking. Can't be kissy kissy around here all the time, Aegir! And when somebody calls someone an asshole, most people aren't gonna take that too lightly, right? You realize that, don't you?

Kinda indicates that you have nothing else to do with your life other than sit on your thin-skinned ass all day and all night posting whiny messages about peoples' comments that aren't to your liking. Can't be kissy kissy around here all the time, Aegir! And when somebody calls someone an asshole, most people aren't gonna take that too lightly, right? You realize that, don't you?

What was it I read here from one or two of the admins recently? If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen? Yeah, I think that was it......

you're being such a hypocrite right now. I'm only mean to mean people, you're mean to nice people, too.

Brian's online mode of operation as of late has been posting links to rarities that have been around for awhile but presenting them as newly unearthed.

then when someone who doesn't spend way too much of their life reading about the Beach Boys on the internet (you spend quite a lot of time on this board, too) posts a thread about it, people like you and AGD attack them for it.

why would anyone search the board for past posts about something that's being presented as a newly-unearthed rarity? also, it's well known that PHP board searches aren't completely accurate.

Aegir!  We meet again!

Actually, 4319 posts is an awful lot of posts on this board! Kinda indicates that you have nothing else to do with your life other than sit on your thin-skinned ass all day and all night posting whiny messages about peoples' comments that aren't to your liking. Yeah, newer people like me have no idea stuff like this exists at all. How in the hell would we have heard about all this cool stuff, if it hadn't been unearthed again?
I just don't get all the hostility around here all the time.

Is that really a valid justification to be an asshole to everyone all the time? I'm not saying you are, but you're taking something a mod said about differing opinions way out of context. I don't think mods were condoning acting so sh*tty to one another with that.

P.S. Aegir's post count averages to about 1.6 posts per day. Yours averages to about 3.6 per day. Mine averages to about lol I just took the time to average out two members' post counts Jesus Christ almighty. JUST SAYIN'.
