AGD's right. Why the stupid
? It's old news. Was discussed here before and it's on YouTube. Do a search.
Disagree. I've never heard the clip and a board search of Brian + Beatles + phone, or Brian + John + Phone turns up nothing on the first page. Don't know about most of you guys but I'm not willing to trawl through hundreds of archived threads just to make sure I don't put AGD's nose out of joint.
And yet I searched John Lennon Brian phone and got one page and this :

I have a question: did the Beach Boys really play their own instruments? Also, what year did they record "Surfin' Bird"?
Respectively, mostly up to 1965... and as far as I'm aware, never. Shame. That would have been epic.
Unfortunately Google manages to make it look otherwise - at least one lyrics site attributes it to them

Heh. I really didn't mean for all of this. Anyway, I'm not a moron and not incapable of using the search function - and before I posted, I did try. Also, I'm not here posting new threads every day about common knowledge - cut me just a liiiiiitle bit of slack!
Like one other poster, I couldn't find concrete evidence that this recording was the same thing as what Brian posted on FB. Of course, after I post the thread and get scolded by the expert, the third or fourth phrase match got me the KFWB thread.
I still think it's interesting in light of "Brian's" recent Facebook post, and the fact that I haven't seen it discussed here in my 1000+ posts time, means maybe it's worth an updated look?
Love and Mercy.

I admit when I first saw your post I thought it was going to be one of the much crueller Brian/Paul spoof phone conversations doing the rounds on Youtube

Sorry to hear you're so lazy, Buddhahate. The clip has been on YouTube for years (2007). If you paruse the Beach Boys section of YouTube long enough you're more than likely going to run into it. I remember it being on the internet long before 2007 and circulating among collectors many years before that. So it ain't new. The tape is interesting, though. It sounds scripted or the DJ told them what to say, but who knows for sure. Wonder if Brian remembers it. He says he never met Lennon. But he did - if not at a party in 1974 with May Pang, but at another one in Malubu with Mickey Dolenz in attendance.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Well, if you're not willing to search the board for the subject matter before starting a new thread, then I'd say you (and others) are a little lazy.
At least I ended my post on a productive note, right?
You're OK though, Buddahat. You contribute some good posts here and you're a knowledgeable fan, especially when it comes to SMiLE. Sail on!

everything
that has been discussed here since the beginning of this board's inception before posting?
No. Since time itself came into being. Anything less is totally unacceptable.

Way too much self importance among some of you.
Hang on to your ego(hanger), and post whatever the heck you want. Start a topic and discuss it with others who are amenable to discussing it. Everyone else can just
ignore the thread
if it so offends the scholarly sticks they've got shoved up their backsides. How many times have various Smile related topics been regurgitated? Or any number of other "previously discussed" things? Maybe new people don't know all there is to know, and maybe they'd rather have the enjoyment of discovering these things through discussion with others as opposed to doing a search and reading old comments - and if they then added a comment to those old threads they'd then be attacked for reviving said old thread.
Why not discuss Brian's '64 radio conversation with the Beatles? It's not like there's a wealth of incredible new topics being discussed here.
To new fans: discuss anything you want and ignore the a**holes.
To the puffed up scholars: Good for you. Your information is appreciated and respected, but don't be Mike Love about it.
