An extra disc full of bonus interviews and even some footage of Beachago, 1989 version.
Looking forward to it!

I had very mixed feelings about the first version. Some stuff good to watch but pretty poor quality footage really.
IS the extended disc that much better?
And with a "director's cut" being issued so soon after the first version, can we expect another edition within a few months too?
Hmmm....

In the Grand tradition of the Beach Boys themselves( benefit of Capitol Records of course) Each issue is a Collector's Item in it's own right.
The original is now sold out and won't be reissued.
For the thousands of fans clamoring for a copy of their own, MFMProductions have gone them one better and added an Interview disc, AND MORE original footage to sweeten the pot.
When next they raid the BBs vault, why of course there will be a new issue; Just don't expect that within a few months!
BRI and the BBs can't remember the password to the Beach Boys Central site, so there's no way they're letting anyone in there OR the vaults anytime soon

It says that this is a slightly
modified
version of the first edition. What does that mean? Was anything that was in the original edition edited out of this reissue? What I'm basically trying to ask is, do I need both copies?

I just ordered the new one today, So I'm flying blind here, but, since you defintely don't have the interview disc, and Beachago wasn't on the first edition, you'll have to take that into consideration.
I asked if there was a trade in policy, but I was told the first edition is now a collector's item.
Guess once I get the new edition, I'll be able to command top dollar on Ebay for the original !!

Yes, some interview footage from the original version was taken out to put in the newly discovered footage. Also, the running time on the first disc has been increased from 90 to 95 minutes.

I hate when people screw around with stuff like that. When The Who remastered and re-released their catalouge, they "fixed" a few things in certain songs, which then altered the album as it was originally recorded.

But now the interviews are on disc 2, right? Edited out from original film, but now on disc 2.

Mine came in the mail today; Billy is GREAT for shipping!!
Now, do I open it and watch it today, or save it for Xmas? ( I'm not giving myself anything else but coal, so maybe better to wait)

I am not really into reality shows, but I sort of imagined the the 1974 Beach Boys were somehow on a modern reality show of sorts. Two of my favorite parts were Dennis interviewing Mike, and the backgammon game.

I know that Billy taped footage backstage at the Nassau Coliseum in June 74 when Paul Simon and Elton John showed up-I bet that is in there now.

Ugh, I already have the first one too!! But I'll have to get the new one, if only for the Dennis interview
Seeing him always makes me smile. At least we can feel good that part of the moneys going to a great cause and we're basically getting (imo) Beach Boy gold in exchange

Directors cut?
I don't want to mark words but didn't Billy edit the first release too?
I want a directors cut of "Hotel Tips for Teens"!
