Hello, fellow Wishbone fans.
I have finally decided to get off my arse and buy some cheap pro-audio gear so i can do basic midi sequencing things - I have to get something to be able to do the stage music I mentioned in the other thread. Seeing as I'm not blessed with a mac, or the funds for one, I would need PC software that's about as good as Garageband - I'm used to the set-up my old college had, which was a midi keyboard, an external soundcard (with XLR jacks) (so i can record geetar, obviously) going into Garageband. I'm fairly clueless as to what to buy, and the impenetrable language of tech-forums isn't helping me decide things like software and soundcards. I might get a mic too, but that's not as high a priority.
So, first things first.
1) Would the purchase of an external soundcard and a midi-controller be all I need to do this? Would i need to budget for software upgrades and midi 'sounds' and things?
2) Would these do the trick? The keyboard comes with Ableton Live lite and the soundcard comes with Cubase A14.

Is there anything I'm forgetting? FYI, I'm running a new-ish Laptop with Windows 7. My budget is quite small also - I wouldn't be comforyable spending more than £200-250.
If anyone could help that'd be awesome. Thanks!
