has this existed for our consumption anywhere? Whenever i listen to the song I always strain to hear that backing music better. SO SO SO good.  i'm surprised it hasn't gotten the backing track released yet...unless it has?

Wait, what's the answer?

I LOVE the backing track. I listen so flipping hard to hear the instrumentals over Denny's voice and have been trying for a while to find the instrumental...

The backing track is so good, it is one of those things where I envy those who are hearing it for the very first time.

Btw, did Brian really record a new version of this in the mid 70s? I think the Badman book says as much, but I dont see anything on AGD's site about it. Is it making the rounds? Whats the deal?

Does anyone know if this song was originally intended to be an instrumental? I think it sounds perfectly natural that way. The vocals sound really forced to me. I definately prefer the instrumental version.

What's the difference between openly trading "what would be called Bootlegs" and openly announcing you want a personal message and then posting you've received the "what would be called Bootlegs" recordings?

No difference, Bgas.    It's just done in a more discrete manner.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I ought to double-check the definition of discretion. That or of irony.

I've never heard anything like that, but I do agree that the song works well as an instrumental.  That's the hallmark of a great arrangement (vocal or instrumental, really) - being able to stand alone and still work.  Brian was a master at this.  Before getting into the Beach Boys, I would have never thought to actually listen to just the instrumental track to a song by itself - I never saw the point.  But listening to stuff like this made me appreciate Brian's talent on an entirely new level.
