I saw the Who just before that. Must have been just a few shows before. Sometime shortly after my high school graduation in 1970. Cincinnatti Ohio in a music hall there,,,,that was designed similar to an opera house. It stands as among the top 3 shows I've seen over a lifetime. And I can't immediately recall the other two. A long show following the James Gang as opener. They played for a long time and after I'd given up on hearing Tommy, Roger walked to the mic and announced casually "we want to do a little thing that Pete wrote after breakfast this morning.......upon which Pete launched into the Overture........another 90 minutes later we staggered out into the Ohio night shaking our heads and grinning stupidly.......
that sort of thing doesn't happen very often.......
Wow...I would give anything to go pack in time to see a Who concert at their peak. I saw them in 2000, and met a guy who saw them in 1970. He told an interesting story about Keith Moon's drumset being transparent, and you could see goldfish in them. He said that they were laying at the bottom, not moving.
