Is there possibly a 1964 demo of "I'm Waiting For the Day" in existence?

I'm assuming there may possibly have been, since the song lyrics were copyrighted back then, right?

Doubtful that Brian would've written a song simply in his head without a demo or early version of some sort?

I always presumed it was lyrics and basic notation, i.e melody and chords.

I can't see anyone sending just lyrics to a publishing company, but I could be wrong.

As for carrying a song around in your head, and that being the only copy so to speak, most composers worth their salt can do this. Straight to long term memory for further work.

My personal belief is that Brian would not have just had this song written in his head, Brian was the type, especially back then, to immediately get any ideas recorded even if only in demo form. Having said that, no mention of a demo of IWFTD existing in the vaults has ever been made (as far as I'm aware).

A big supposition here - but maybe they were the "original" lyrics to a released song.  Would they fit any known release from 1964 or early 1965?

I promise I'm not trying to degrade this into a violent Myke defense screed, but I'm just curious as to why Mike would get credit for apparently minimal contributions for this song but not for California Girls where he wrote every word.

I guess Brian just sang the words to emphasize the melody and not to make it look like he wrote those lyrics. And I never heard that Brian came up with the title. His first title was "I hate Rock'n'Roll", wasn't it ? Of course this is all my guess

actually according to Mike during one of the 67 Hawaii concerts, it was originally called "California Girls Are All Pregnant". shortened the title.
