FTD ....Why not for the Beach Boys

Wouldn't it be great if Capitol did this for the BB?
This was taken off the official Sony Elvis FTD website.
"The Follow That Dream collector series is a program created by Sony BMG that serves the dedicated collector. There are currently over 50 titles available with additional titles released four times a year. The titles include material ranging from multiple takes from studio sessions (much of it previously unreleased), previously unreleased concert recordings (often referred to as soundboard recordings). More recently, FTD releases have also included Elvis movie soundtracks with previously unreleased material as well as other deleted RCA titles that have been rereleased exclusively on the FTD label with bonus material, much of it previously unreleased. Also on occasion, FTD has released special book/CD combos.
The FTD series is a fascinating and historically important look into the development of Elvis as a musical artist and the evolution of his career. The material is not available through downloads and in the United States is available exclusively through the stores at Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis and online through"

The Beach Boys' organization has wanted to do releases like these since 2006 through the Beach Boys Central website. If it were as easy as the situation RCA has had with Elvis' material (in this case, RCA owning all of Elvis' recordings), we would have had the stuff by now.

They began doing deluxe vinyl versions this year of some of their better titles. I would love a triple Sunflower era LP set!

There was only one Elvis, or latterly his estate. There are four voting members of BRI. Rocket science it ain't.

From the look of it FTD is a subset of Sony's Legacy series, or a variation on Rhino Handmade's logo for Warners/Elekra/Atlantic archive items. I understand Rhino Handmade is not doing any new projects, though they're still marketing what's in their warehouse.
This does sound like a good idea, though like AGD says, it takes four to tango in this instance for it to happen. One would think that given the deliberately "niche" market this series would shoot for, that would be less of an incentive to refuse. You're only selling to the die-hards who want everything, so let them have it, and not much money is involved, the stuff is all in the can already, so what's the diff? Still, to paraphrase a famous comedian, the mind is a terrible thing. Esp. a stubborn one.

That would be great. They also release the classic albums with many, many outtakes, alternate takes, etc. You can follow the sessions to every song in detail. Except of course for the one take-recordings.
I just got the newest FTD, vol. 1 of the "Jailhouse rock"- EP. Just awesome. There were just 6 sons recorded for the movie (that's why it wasn't a LP) but the put on the complete sessions for "Treat me nice" (movie version), "I want to be free" and "Young & beautiful". It's so great to hear Elvis work in the studio and tell the musicians and singer what they should do. Pure gold ! Can't wait for vol. 2

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST
To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
