Austrilan Rarities LP
TonyW:
Thanks! That was a great read.
I spoke with Stephen in January last year about the Oz Rarities album and the reason for its withdrawal and he said at the time that the real reason was the Sound Of Free/Lady tracks licensing from Parlophone in the UK who were demanding royalty payments and that they had later received a cease and desist letter from Dave Nowlen. As they had only ever printed about 500 copies of the LP they just decided to not reprint and let the whole issue just die away.
So the Dennis Tracks were the main issue and the Dave Nowlen/Survivors issue was yet another distraction.
As for the "What’d I Say" being included I believe AGD was told by Glenn A Baker that they told EMI/Capital Australia that it had been a B-Side on a Scandinavian release and they believed them. I’m sure AGD can verify this or crucify me for screwing up again!

Close enough. ;D He told me they told EMI Oz that it was a Portugese B side. However, when I asked him about the LP being pulled because of the Survivors misinformation, he agreed. Nothing about anything else.

Thanks everyone for their replies. I put that interview up on my PetSite becase I heard people bitching about this raritiy and that, never realizing that we old fogies had NOTHING until the early 80's. That was the start of all we have today. Lady/Free tapes from the single were as sought after as boots are today. Any raritiy was.

What’d I Say” first appeared on a 1964 Australian various artists album titled Surfside ’64
I cannot remember where I found that out but I think it was either an old Record Collector or an old Goldmine.
