Major Crimes - CD's that we should have and don't.

After seeing the thread about songs we like to hear, it got me to thinking about CD's that we really should have and don't. One's that have even been released elsewhere, and ones that would only take some minimal effort on Capitol's part (Capitol btw now owns the entire Brother Tape Library...they are free to do whatever.).
Some examples:
A Brian Wilson Productions collection
The Beach Boys In Concert Volume 2 (3,4,5,etc.)
Ten Years Of Harmony(I mean, why isnt this in print?)
Carl's two solo CD's.
Any others? I know this is a fluff question, but one that makes you think.
Oh, and I would love to see a new BB comp put out. It is one that we could do ourselves, but, it would be nice to see it officially (from previous legal releases). The tracks that could be on it are:
Do You Like Worms
Prayer
Fall Breaks And Back To Winter
Wind Chimes
Heroes And Villians
Surf's Up
Good Vibrations
Cabin Essence
Wonderful
I'm In Great Shape & H&V demo
Vega-Tables
Cool Cool Water
Can't Wait Too Long
Well You're Welcome
With Me Tonight (from Hawthorne Ca.)
This could even be the cover:

There's a Smile compilation on the iTunes Music Store, or at least there used to be.

The Hawthorne II set proposed on the Songs We Would Like to Hear thread sounds like a per-
fect idea, with Wouldn't it be Nice to Live Again as the centerpiece.

"A Stack-o'-Vocals"
Seriously - I have a compilation of a capella tracks that just floors people when they hear it - I know it sound 'blooboardish" but people who hear it describe it as "angels singing" ......... (I feel almost dirty for using a blooisim).
As for this thread title:

Because it might sell even worse than KTSA/BB85? Mind you, I'd be buying it in a heartbeat...

"Best of the Brother Years" more or less replaced that one, didn't it? Too bad that "It's a Beautiful Day" is currently unavailable though, that's a great song.

I'm with you on the In Concert series. Neil Young, The Allmans, Phish, Widespread Panic are now making a killing by releasing live shows from their vaults. Surely there could be a series like these from the BB's.

Pearl Jam has released no less than 264 (!) official live albums so far... They simply release an 'official bootleg' of every show they do so that there's nothing left to bootleg... I wouldn't mind if the same thing would be done with the Beach Boys archive...

I'd rather hear one GREAT concert recording than 200 'official bootlegs'. Now don't get me wrong, I sure wouldn't mind an extensive box-set showcasing quite a few BB shows from 1964 'til 1993, just don't get rid of the quality control along the way.

Amen to that!
In addition to what's already been mentioned (SMiLE box, Hawthorne II, live concerts) I'd really like to see the BW camp recreate a FULL concert DVD. They could record it on a soundstage ala SMiLE, over several days or weeks, ensuring that they get the best possible performance from the big guy. Just please don't change wardrobes ala Pet Sounds live, or a worse offender BW On Tour where the band changes clothes while performing the songs. I knew they were talented, but wow!

My guess is tht other than another "Greatest Hits" cd or two, we'll see nothing more in the future from the Boys. The Boys are getting old, the group is fragmented, and Capitol Records doesn't seem to be interested. This doesn't bode well for the future.

I seriously doubt that's the way it will play out.

I think it'd sell a lot better. It has Kokomo on it! There are tons of people that will buy a CD just to hear one song.

Nice tease there, Jon...
Let's hope for a Denny Rarities set somewhere along the line, based on the success of POB/Bambu last year

In keeping with the starter topic, I'd say it's a crime Smiley Smile & Wild Honey haven't been reissued in stereo. I'm aware that it was pitched to Capitol before, but how about trying it again since Brian is back on the label and a lot of young bands are citing Brian as an influence.

Not only Kokomo, bu also Wipe Out, California Girls, I Get Around, Wouldn't It Be Nice and "that song from Full House". Actually it would make a quite interesting track list for casual fans.

Yes, I had an idea similar to Goofy's above idea, but it's kinda already been done - in three parts - with Roxy, Pet Sounds Live, and BWPS(DVD). Anyway, this is what I'd like to see/hear:
Brian Wilson - Live In Concert (2CD set). The first disc would open with "California Girls", followed by some of the more "arty" and "ballad-y" hits, with Disc 1 closing with Pet Sounds in its entirety. Disc 2 would open with BWPS in its entirety, followed by the "rocking" hits, and the encore, "Love And Mercy".
Record it over several shows, use the best cuts, fix it in the studio (but don't tell anybody), and it would be the greatest live CD in the history of rock & roll!
