You gotta like poetry with music, which, admittedly, many do not.

How accurate (or disingenuous) is it for this to be called "a Brian Wilson album"?
Well... he produced and contributed vocal & instrumental backing. Compare with Mark Ronson's
Versions
album. Does he sing on it ?
AGD - what's your overall review? Is it worth buying from a Brian Wilson musical point of view?
It's a slice of time and place, not to everyone's taste. If you're expecting anything close to what Brian was doing with the BB at the time, think again. But it is a missing artifact from Brian, and thus of some interest - who knows, we might get the Fred Vail country album sessions yet.
Mahalo AGD!

So does this mean that Brian was in tune with the times? Seems so.
Maybe that's why he abandoned that pro Americana LP (SMiLE) & deemed it inappropriate. He must be a traitor. Makes sense.

I wouldn't worry too much. Brian must have got bored of waiting for a World of Peace by now. Haven't we all? Though "Love and Mercy" touches on a few pacific strings.

I think a lot of songs written by Brian touch on
Pacific
strings...

Which other song (besides Be Still) was cowritten with Dennis?
I also wish instruental versions of some of the songs had been included - but I guess I'm just being greedy!

maybe someone can OOPs them to separate the vocals from the instruments.....but I'm tech-ignorant and possibly entirely wrong about that possibility.

Awesome news.
I heard the album at Steve Kalinich's house a few years back and loved it. After he played the CD, Steve pulled out an original vinyl pressing that was made in the early '70s. It wasn't an acetate. It had a label and all the songs typed out on it. Looked more like a promo copy to my eyes. But I could be wrong. He didn't have the set-up to play it, and probably wouldn't have wanted to, considering it may have been the only copy and all. But having this album on vinyl is gonna be awesome.

Select the MP3 Downloads version of the album and from there you can preview all of the tracks.

I like the Beatles a bit more than the Boys of Beach, I think Brian's band is the tops---really amazing. And finally, I'm liberal. That's it.

Ah thanks, I see now. I may just download the versions of the title track with singing, Lonely Man, Be Still, Walk Along with Love, and maybe Leaves of Grass. That's five of six dollars instead of 15.

It is cool, that company does a lot of records, of course every request helps so more emails to them won't hurt.

This is very exciting news! Sounds like it was conceived and recorded under inspired and spontaneous circumstances in the idealistic and utopian spirit
of the era and may be imbued with that unmistakable and palpable enthusiasm and innocent feel heard in "Little Bird" and "Be Still" (at least as far as the two Dennis tracks are concerned).
This kind of "vibe" is needed more than ever today, and if one of Brian's favorite songs is on it that alone is enough to generate GREAT anticipation!

I heard the "America I Know You" track and while it's not a lost classic, it is an interesting production and much different than anything else Brian was doing around that time. It is both orchestral and pastoral, a very relaxed song that has a little bit of an ethereal feel. Actually, it kind of reminds me of something Van Dyke Parks could have done. It is not really pop in any way, though. It will be really interesting to hear what other styles are explored on the whole album.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for the email.
We're still planning it out. Hopefully there will be vinyl, as I'd love to make it happen.
All the best,
Matt.

Wow, does this mean there's a chance we'll also see a release of Brian and Fred Vail's supposedly awful country album "Cows In The Pasture"?

AGD has implied on more than one occasion that it doesn't really bare listening to. I don't know how much of it he has heard. Care to illuminate us Andrew please?

Fred only recorded five or so vocals for the project. Let's just say, he's more a Jasper Daily than a Brian Wilson. It's possible that hearing Fred sing was one reason why Brian bailed on the project.

Yeah, but musically, is it any good? Wasn't there a whole album's worth of backing tracks cut?
