He looks better than in some of the other photos where he has far too much hairspray in his hair. Also, he thankfully has stopped coloring his hair. Dude, you're 65, it's okay.

Only if his stylists says its okay ...
actually most Emo's have jet black hair ...
so its Brian the trend setter:
* Surf Music
* Concept Albums
* A return to minimalist production
* big fat farty symthesisers
* grey Emo hair for senior citizens
Coooollllll ... now if only I had any hair left ...

In what I can only describe as an inspired moment this evening I taped Channel 9 Sydney News (when I went up the pool to do laps) - decided to do it when I saw Brian was doing the promo thig in Sydney today and because Channel 9 are the Festival sponsors. I just fast forwarded through the tape and yep - there was Brian - grey Emo hair and all - he was laughing and joking having a good time and then sang some of That Lucky Old Sun - Brian looked great and it was good promotion for Saturday night.
try this link to see video:

Try the above link - go to page 4 or look through all the stories and you will find the Brian story - just look for the picture of Brian. Sorry I'm not techno savvy enough to work this out before sunrise.

That's very weird Tony.. I too taped Channel 9 News!! But only after it had said "and next Brian Wilson comes to Sydney" or whatever it said. So I quickly found a tape and shoved it in and pressed record (I didn't even care what was on the tape). It was a little disappointing though that there were only a few seconds dedicated to Brian, still nice to see him getting a bit of publicity (unlike Mike+Bruce).

At this rate, he can do whatever he wants. Darn, I was expecting like a mohawk or spiky hair when they said emo

I sat through a 7 minute video on fireworks before I realized Brian wasn't in it. I finally found it, but he was only in the video for maybe 10 seconds.
And I was defnitely expecting something like
this
when I read "Emo Hairstyle".

Beach Boy Wilson hits Australian shores
3rd January 2008, 13:30 WST
The creative genius behind the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, appears to be as much in the dark about Australia as he is about surfing.
At least he loves the sun.
The 65-year-old legend of pop, here to headline the Sydney Festival, will play at a free concert to 40,000 fans at the Domain on Saturday night.
When asked today how he enjoyed being in Australia, he said he loved being in Sydney and basking in its sunshine.
Asked if he thought Sydney was similar to California, he replied: “No, I don’t”.
“People in California go into the ocean more,” Wilson told reporters in Hyde Park.
But he was quickly assured that Sydneysiders loved surfing.
“Oh really, then California and Australia are similar,” he said.
Wilson became famous by writing songs about the sun, surf, sand and Californian girls.
But the 65-year-old won’t be hitting the Bondi waves - he famously can’t surf.
“I’d be so afraid,” he told reporters.
“I tried one time and the board almost hit me in the head.
“It missed my head by two inches.
“That was the end of Brian Wilson the surfer.”
As well as Saturday’s free gig, Wilson will perform three shows at the State Theatre next week.
Two shows will comprise songs from his latest work, That Lucky Old Sun (a Narrative), while the third will see the music legend perform the Beach Boys’ seminal Pet Sounds album in its entirety.
Despite worldwide acclaim, Wilson admits he still gets nervous before a big show.
“It feels a little scary,” he said.
“(But) it makes me want to perform well.
“And I’m a 65-year-old man who can perform.”
Wilson succumbed to the stresses of overwork and stopped touring with the Beach Boys at the height of their success in the mid-1960s.
It was the start of a downward spiral that led the songwriter into a long battle with mental illness and drug addiction.
Wilson was today reluctant to answer questions about his health.
But when pressed he stressed he was feeling as creative as ever.
“I feel like I have a chance to make some money this year and I feel like I can record and I feel like just going straight ahead,“ Wilson said, adding that he walks eight kilometres every day.
Wilson believes he is still “growing” musically.
“I get better every year. How about that,” he laughed.
He plans to record That Lucky Old Sun in January for a new album - saying the “negro spiritual” was a beautiful song.
“I just bought Louis Armstrong’s version of That Lucky Old Sun, learned how to play it, arranged it differently, changed the chords and taught it to my band,” Wilson said.

Sheriff...yer makin' me bark like a dawg! Gotta open a window ~ just got mighty warm here...
Ahem, now then, I'd agree with Billy Ram's assessment of the new lid. Dumping spray and mousse make it too plasticky -- we wanna see Brian Wilson, not Mattel's Ken for criminy's sake! Also, you can only fool people so long by darkening it. Ever see seniors with jet black hair then when you get closer, you see the crow's feet and wrinkles covering a ghostly white face? Ewww!

To Brian's (or his hairstylist's) credit, he has been leaving some grey in for the past 10 years or so, even when he colors it. It looks more natural than, say, Sir Paul's hair.
But I agree that it looks good when it's just grey and left without much "product" in it. He's got a nice head of hair.

I still think his Pet Sounds-era hair is his best. It's inimitable.
I tried to get my hair cut that way a few years ago. Failed!

Only washed & bathed, of course...

He washed at least until his dad died. I think it stopped around 1974-75
