Alright, well, on the version of "Surf's Up" released on the album Surf's Up,  there's something strange in the background starting at about 2:50 and climaxing at around 2:59/3:00. What is it? It sounds kind of like it could some kind of reverb or even strings. It's very, very low and tough to make out, but it's definitely there. Could this be from the infamous sessions for Surf's Up pt. 2? Or does it have a more pedestrian explanation?

Well the bass comes in first, then Carl's vox has a reverb added on the word 'song' and in the left channel you can hear what sounds like studio 'chatter', along with a low cymbal ride that leads into the 'child' group vox. Not sure if it's from the group vox tape (spliced in?), the carl vocals track, the cymbal track or the piano backing track but I think it's just room noise picked up on a mike.

My understanding is that the (faulty) mastertape used for the Surf's Up album was actually a previously used tape, from some other group that had been erased.... but this was a little bit of that other music leaking through that hadn't been totally wiped.  The CD version of the album corrects this problem by using an earlier generation tape without the noise.

Another question:
Why is it that the BB SU runs under Brother Publishing and BWPS SU Irving Music?
