'Righteous' Medley Set Hitting Stores This Fall
Bill Medley

Katie Hasty, N.Y.
Artists like Brian Wilson and Phil Everly enhance the upcoming set from Righteous Brother principal Bill Medley. "Damn Near Righteous," due Sept. 25, is the singer's first solo record in 10 years and his first since his partner in the Brothers, Bobby Hatfield, died in 2003.

Produced by Steve Dorff and Shyne Fair, the new album features a mix of old and new songs, including covers of the Ray Charles hit "Lonely Avenue" and a rendition of Wilson's "In My Room" (marked by vocal contributions by Everly and the songwriter himself).

Medley's backing studio band includes veteran players like guitarist Dean Parks (Steely Dan), drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell), drummer J.R. Robinson (Rufus and Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones), bassist Joe Chemay (Elton John, Pink Floyd, Shania Twain) and keyboardist Jimmy Nichols (Faith Hill, John Mellencamp). Medley's daughter McKenna can also be heard on a track.

Medley released his first solo album, "Bill Medley 100%," in 1968. He also won a Grammy for his duet with Jennifer Warnes on "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," from the Academy Award-winning film "Dirty Dancing."

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
